I have been waiting for my copy of Chevrolet by the Numbers for quite a while now, but it is still on national back order. Maybe someone here can help me ease some anxiety.

My father has a 67 Nova non SS that he bought in 1970. It is an original 4-speed/12 bolt car. The engine is a non original 1970 LT1. Can anyone help me identify whether or not it is an L79 car?

The original owner who campaned the car at the drags said it was originally equipped with a 327.

Thanks in advance,

Paul Tholey

Paul, I have the 65-69 CBTN book.....if you have specific questions....As you havent said anything about the trim tag stating "L-79" and the original engine missing, I cant think of anyway to determine original engine.
CBTN lists either "ZI" 327/350 or "ZJ" 327/350(Air Cond) as the two codes.....Also 6 cars were reportedly built with A/C and A.I.R.(Smog)...chuck

I checked the tag quickly last night, but I thought the code looked to be like Z85? I'll have to bring a flashlight out tonight and get all of the info to post. Thanks for your help so far!

Paul

PS, it is not an A/C car
