I posted this question on another site with no definitive answers. I have been told by an authority the the Muncie shifter mechanism and fingers on a '70 Chevelle LS-6 I am restoring are incorrect and not off a '70. I cannot pinpoint the exact difference.

Can anyone supply me with a VERY distinctive description or better yet, photos of the fingers mounted to the side cover and close ups of the mechanism itself. Evidently it is a minor infraction but it needs to be corrected.

You can tell if you have the right arms and rods by the numbers on them.
Lever 1&2= 9180
Lever 3&4= 9192
Lever Reverse= 2891
Rod 1&2= 1437
Rod 3&4= 2535
Rod Reverse= 1438
I have also seen some levers with M 1-2 and M 3-4. In the assembly manual there is a good picture for reference also. Hope this helps.

Thanks Gleek, more info in 1/2 hour than I received all week elsewhere!

The rods I do know are correct. The levers however I will check now that I have those numbers. The assembly manual that I have does not have a good enough drawing to be accurate.

I have personally documented and photographed Dean's car off of www.ls6benchmark.com (http://www.ls6benchmark.com) and his levers are slightly different than what I originally believed to be correct so now I am stumped.

I would also like to know specifically the difference in the mechanism between a '70 and what I believe to be a '69.
