I just got a new set of Eaton leaf springs in and the finish looks very rough. Can I paint these black or silver and they still be correct? Any suggestions on a way to help the looks?

OE leaf springs weren't painted.
Their manufacturing process produced a flat, uneven, dark grey finish.

So what do you do to keep them from rusting?
Wouldn't a dark gray paint look better than a rusted spring?

How about putting clearcoat on them.

I use the POR exhaust manifold paint, its a bit lighter, but You can probably tint it with Regular Black POR. This works great for drivers.
These were taken apart, wire brushed and a rust inhibitor was applied then shot with rattle can steering gearbox paint from NPD. They were too blue so I dusted them with light coats of some cast iron gray.

The POR may be a tougher finish though.
