Newbie J.B. here. Have questions. What is the stall speed of converter used with TH 400 in 70 Yenko Duece? Also, is the trans code the same as a 70 Z-28 Camaro? One more question. What is the correct lingage between the gas pedal and carb? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, J.B.

It should be coded 70Wxxx, or at least that's what Marlin told me a while back (I think).

So, is LT-1 convertor the same as the L-78 convertor in '70 (and '69)?

Ok guys heres the program. Im putting together a LT-1, 70 Nova to go playing at the PSMCDR drag race in Stanton Michigan this fall. Its not gonna be passed off as a "YENKO", or even a Yenko clone and isnt even painted a Yenko color, its white. Ive raced small blocks for years (im almost 60!!) and think it would be a blast to show how fast a small block car could go if it were ordered "correctly". Current rules allow cars to race if they are same as to what was assembly line available at the time, right pulleys, right carb, right casting #s on intake, heads, exhaust manifolds, right stall speed, etc. Thats it guys. Im gonna take this car out and hammer on it like most people wouldnt want to do with an original. I would appreciate your help to make it as correct as possible and dont wish to step on toes in doing so...thanks J.B.

The Yenko Deuce was pretty close to a 70 Z/28 in a base Nova body. You may want to try Mad Mike's site. There are some very knowledgeable 70 Z/28 guys over there. Where has Marlin been? Have not seen any posts from him in a while.

Hey John

If you go to MadMikes 2gcog, here's a couple guys to check with...

Dino Graziano (dinograz_)
Great guy , he checks in here to.

Also Bob Routt, he has a beautiful 73 Z and is doing a 71 Z at this time..

I can hook you up with a number of them that are very Knowledgable in the #s game for the LT-1 ...

Dont forget the SWAP in INDY next week at the fair grounds.
I'll be going if you wanna ride with.

TTYL.
Jeff

Yo Jeff. Thanks for the offer, but I gotta work next Saturday. I had Mad Mike bookmarked, but never thought to look there for trans info. He shows 70 Z's with a 2400 RPM stall, but I've seen others list 1800. I figured the guys on this BB would be the real authoritys on the subject. Maybe I'll punch everything between 1800 and 2400 into Desktop Dragstrip and see what it says is best.

The 6 bolt converter GM used was rated at 2200 stall. My white car just starts to move the wheels at 2200 with that converter. Now did you really have to point out that Rob and I are oddballs http://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif I will be at Stanton, as I hear there is a hemi from Texas that has my number, so we'll have the classic hemi vs ZL-1. Rob will be running 12.8's (right Rob?). Oh and yes, the throttle is hooked via a cable. Now build that car and go on a Casey hunt!!!!! (hi Casey....I know your watching)

I guess that we have all been missing Marlin's input here. Like so many guys here, Marlin is more of a car enthusiast than a computer enthusiast. He mentioned that he does not even have a computer at home, and that he was depending on using one at work to talk here. And he also mentioned that might change jobs. So that may be why he is not posting lately.

Well, looky here! I'm outta touch for a couple of days, and we get a new player in the Pure Stock game! SWEET! It's about time an LT-1 did a little W-31 huntin' at a Pure Stock event! (Casey's gonna LOVE this http://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif!) Give 'em heck, John, and keep us up to date on how the car is coming. And WELCOME to the site!

Pete:

I've been off in the land of late model Camaros as of late (trying to find little bro a car), so the "upgrades" to the yellow car have been pushed back a little. I don't know about 12.8's...I'd be satisfied to run some 12's in Michigan...just as long as I'm quicker than a certain Stude... http://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif
