I am interested in 69 B-M chevelles. did they come with L-88 or BB vette scooped hoods? I collect old magazines and have numerous articles on 1968 B-M chevelles but have never seen a 1969. Is there someone who still makes the L-88 hood for a 69 velle? thanx in advance

I would probably have to say "yes", some did come with the hood, as the Camaro and Corvette both got the L-88 hood in '69. The hoods are easy to find, but if you want to go straight to the source, then call up Motion Performance and order one! Yes, they are still around, and they still sell TONS of fiberglass parts.

There is a 69 Motion Chevelle in the Dec 68 Hi Performance Cars Magazine. It has a stock SS hood but listed a "functionally-scooped hood" as a Motion option. I have seen a 68 Motion Chevelle (in mag) with a stinger vette type hood and I have seen a 1970 Motion Chevelle (in mag) with the L88 type hood but have not seen any 69's with the optional hood. Since the 68 and 69 can use the same hood they could have used the stinger type. You would need to find out if Motion ever made the L88 hood for a 69 Chevelle to know if it was possible to have ordered it in 69. Motion would build whatever a customer ordered if the parts were available.

The 68-'69 Motion L-88 Hoods are still available. A company called Legendary Fiberglass makes them for Motion. They are located in Warringon PA. This company has made them for Motion since day one. They used to be called Fast Glass then Manufactures Associates. This company will sell you one direct. They go to most of the larger Swap Meets like Carlisle, Charlotte etc. Pick the hood up there and save shipping. I will post the part# and phone number in a few days.

I called that # just to see if that was them or not, and IT WAS! They DO HAVE the L-88 style hoods available for the '69 Chevelles, and they are $375.

Is it possible this company is called Legendary Cars Inc.? I have checked the local phone book, and can only find this listing in Warrington, PA. Their address is:

Legendary Cars Inc.
2065 Bunnell Road
Warrington, PA 18974
215-491-1717

Hope this helps, I am close enough (5 minutes) that I can stop by and obtain information from them and post it here if anyone needs it.

I just had to resurrect this thread.

Found a couple stingray hood dealers for '69 Chevelle, copo.com, vfnfiberglass, and Legendary Car Inc..

Wondered if anyone had obtained a hood from one of these dealers, and could expand on quality, fit, and especially a "rough underside" vs. an underside that's been fully finished,...and price.

Thanks, Edward. (...putting a 427 in my '69 and tossing around ideas)

If Joe G. chimes in here, he can tell you all about his one owner 69 Motion Phase-III 396-375HP Chevelle. His car came wih the Stinger Hood when new from Motion. It was replaced when we restored his car in NJ, with a new VFN Stinger Hood. Quality is very good top and bottom. The original hood was bowed (warped) so a new hood was in order. The VFN hood fit very well. Try a search in the Baldwin/Motion section for Joe G. 69 Motion Chevelle, and there are some pictures taken at the shop I worked at while Joes 69 was being restored.........(musclecarkid)
