I told you about the GTO now for the even better news. HSV has made a prototype LS1 383 Ute that did the car show circuit last year. One of my friends has 3 HSV's in his company including the 255kw GTO coupe that I have already mentioned. He has been given a teaser of what is coming and "let me say it is all aluminium and displaces a real 7 litres (427 Cubes !!). It is so good to be down here for once.
I read something about HSV making a hi po GTO called a GTS. It was going to use a Callaway-tuned 400 plus hp engine. Are they still making this?

HSV make two Monaros, the first is the GTO the second is the GTS, and YES its the one with the 300kw Calloway engine. Have put that engine in Sedans since 2000.
All HSV have significant Brake and Handling options. Apart from a stiff ride, the GTS has 19" wheels, it is a awesome car,and they are available from you local HSV dealer right now.
Did I mention that it is good to be in Autralia right now.
I'll try to dig out some specs tonight.

Bobby,
Here is a link to the HSV website (http://www.hsv.com.au/main.html). Click on Cars then Coupe to see the vehicle they are talking about. Also check the coupe downloads. There are some wallpapers and a brochure there. We'll be getting the Pontiac GTO (http://www.pontiac.com/pontiacjsp/passion/news/main.jsp?source=ponthome) next year.

I was looking at a cut away LS1 display motor in the GM tent at Carlisle. The LS1 is an impressive design and the bottom end looks really strong. The LS1 has some nice features such as; aluminum block with iron liners, 6 bolt main caps in a crossbolt design, aluminum heads with a nice looking rocker design, cast alu. oil pan used as a stressed member, no distributor - has direct fire ignition with a separate coil for each cylinder, (a lot of motors have this now) intake manifold is composite design.

Hey Terry, I just went through the HSV web tour....what do you know about the 'spraying' of the 'DNA' on the parts of the vehicles? Sounds like a newer concept of serial #'s sprayed onto a part that are encrypted...?? This would make these vehicles parts VERY specific and able to be pedigreed on the collectors market. Great concept if I'm reading what this is correctly. BTW, did you ever develop the pics of the Chandler collection from when you visited?

You are right about the parts being very specific, but security is THE reason. HSV buyers here basically never touch there cars, as the resale drops heavily if much other than tyres is altered. HSV has about 6 cars (before the Coupes ) but only sell around 3,500 cars per year. They are therefore very limited. Saw some comments on the Camaro ZL1 about it being an instant collectable. Might be now, but after people drive the new GTOs it might take a battering. A collectable state of the art performance car with a solid rear end......thats an interesting thought. (I believe the Camaro does not have IRS ...apologise for being misinformed if it does.)
AND Mark I have not developed them...but now that you mentioned it must get off my butt and do something about it.
Thanks for reminding me.
