I have a 69 Camaro that I am trying to verify 100% that it is a COPO. I have been told that all of the COPO's were built in batches. I would like to see if anyone has a body number on their car that would be very close to mine. 12437nor369193 Thanks Ronnie

Ronnie,
You posted the vin. Look at the trim tag on the firewall, driver side. It will have a Fischer Body number and other pertinent info.

J. MacNeish's '69 Z28/SS/COPO book shows a COPO trim tag on page 172 with body #NOR369756, X44, 07A build, 50-50 paint & 715 trim.

Stefano;
That is the body #, the VIN # only has an 'N' not 'NOR'....

Does the car have all the correct piercings for the ZL/2 parts?. If so that is a great clue. No X44 cars would recieve a hood like that without being a COPO. The BE is a good clue as well as the heater box. No big block X44 cars except COPO's...BKH

Also, an M-22 w/Vin (assuming it is original) in an X-44 car would have to be a COPO.

I don't see much. The #'s on the later cars don't show much. /ubbthreads/images/icons/frown.gif Both have some other COPO's near them, but that is about all. Have to go on physical evidence.

Tim,
What's the colors and X code for your car? Auto or manual?

Thanks!

Tim, My car was equipped identical to yours except it was red and am radio w/rear speaker. It came from Stinn and was an 03E car. I've seen another car supposedly from Stinn equipped the same way. I wonder if Stinn ordered most of them this way.

Tim,I located another Prout car tonight.It's also a 9737 non D80 car,AM,4-sp,and in his words "a burgandy paint color",black std interior.I believe he said he was the second owner,he's had it since 73.I hope to speak with him again to get more info.He also mentioned a Lemans Blue COPO just saved from the junkyard now running around with a 350 in place of the 427..........

Another way to document a car is to try and dig up the cars history. If you can get a NICB report it will tell you the original dealer. This is a least a place to start to try and find an owner history. If you are lucky you will find a salesman or mechanic or parts counter man that will remember the car because of the 427. Sometimes they remember the cars owner if it was bought as a race car. The problem is getting to the NICB info.
