Here are some pics of an original '70 big block car that was built in mid '70's with a tunnel rammed small block. Car has not seen the light of day since early '80's. Car has not been changed since the pics were taken in '77. Car is candy apple burgundy with candy blue flames coming out of the fender vents. Car had typical mods of the day, 15x4 Cragars, Lakewood bars, Sun gauges on cowl and around the steering column, clear plexiglass hood scoop. The original BB engine is owned by a guy 2 streets down from where the car is stored in Dillonvale, Ohio. Car will probably never see the light of day.

Dave,
Is the Nova on display somewhere or is it sitting in a barn rotting away? /ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif

It is sitting in a damp garage and rustin away. I saw it about 3 years ago and when I first saw the interior I thought it was changed to gray tweed from original black vinyl. It was just mildew though. The floor had standing water on it in places so you can imagine what the undercarriage is starting to look like. The grandmother of the current owner bought it for him in '82 from the original builder(who lost his job in the mill or coal mine) for a graduation present I believe. When someone has no actual cash outlay or sweat equity in something you know how much they appreciate it. I've tried to buy the car at least 20 times. The pic in the building was at a car show in the late '70's on Wheeling Island.

Dave,
Awesome pics! If I had a Nova that is exactly like I would do it. That is as "day 2" as you can get to me. The story about how they are letting it rot away reminds me of an original 1970 L78, M21, all the paperwork Nova SS that I have been after from the owner since 1971 for a couple of years. also a little off the topic but I saw at a local cruise night by me another Nova a 1969 L78, M21 original Nova complete. Black/black car with the original Bill Jacobs Chevrolet, Joliet Il dealer sticker on back.

By the way I forgot to mention that the black Nova at the cruise night has 12,300 original miles. A guy by the last name of Korales bought it new and drove/raced it till 1972. It sat till 1992 when he died and it was left to his brother who has had it since then. (Im not totaly off the subject because it has a couple of literaly "day 2" mods like a black set of slapper traction bars, chrome fan shroud, after market intake and carb, and a cool vintage Hurst ball shifter.)

That is a cool looking ride (really like the scoop). I would have to say that it'd be more appropriate to call it a 'day 60' car simply because of the paint....sorry bad luck getting fast jobs done w/ body guys. (and those flames don't look like they were done w/ a can of Krylon). /ubbthreads/images/icons/wink.gif
