Does anyone know on a 1969 camaro with a cousion grip steering wheel, should it be color coded to the interior color such as the feature car of the month,or were they all black? /ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif

The NK1 wheel was released into the 69 Camaro late in the year, but the production total was 0 and none have ever been documented as original on a car (not surprising given the production total!).

Is this the GSX wheel in '70?

It may be the same as the 70 Corvette wheel.

This 1969-70 Optional three spoke cushion grip steering wheel is the same as the Chevelle NK1 optional steering wheel, and the Corvette too.The only difference is the Chevelle only got this wheel in black regardless of the interior color.
The Corvette got this wheel in a variety of colors.
The Buick Skylark/GS got a steering wheel similar to this one,but it has a different definition in the grip area.It has what looks like a valley in there, and I believe it is an inch bigger in diameter also.

Hmmm, the wheel I'm referring to is a thick, cushion grip, not finger grooves on the back, brushed 3spoke, and only available on the '70 GSX's - not even the GS's. Was this wheel available on the Vette's and Chevelles??

Mariln,
I believe that You are correct about the Buick GSX Wheel. It is not the same as the NK1 wheel. It is made of a cushy foam grip without the finger detents not the moulded plastic. Similar to the Oldsmobile sport wheel which has 4 spokes.

What are you doing hanging around Buicks anyway?

The NK1 wheel was introduced to dealers around March '69 in the communications kit. It states that it is the same wheel used for the 1969 Corvette, 15", black.
