Brain,
I moved the post since you are switching gears on the topic and changing it to one of values and preferences.
While the dollar amount is not relevant, it would be my preference you seek.
The COPO/Yenko market is not a perfect one and it will be difficult to make apples to apples comparisons.
I have no qualm stating that as a matter of Options , Uniqueness and History, apples to apples I would rather have a Douglass Ordered Yenko both as my personal car and for resale. (This is my opinion today)
If compared to another Dealers Single or Double Copo I would prefer the Douglass and Yenko over those.
While they are all a direct result of Don Yenkos efforts, as you mentioned prior, I do relish the spash of Yenko which is inherent in the Douglass Direct order COPOs.
For your information I have been proposed a comparable trade, a Yenko for my Douglass car and I turned it down. I have also offered to purchase other members Douglass Yenkos at prices which would be equivilant to Canonsberg Yenkos in todays market.
Due to the fact that I live and play in the Suburbs of Chicago and there are so few Douglass Yenkos (Supply and Demand)I have awaiting list for Douglass Yenkos at Cannonsberg prices.
So if I find one at a discount I am buying!
I was actually surprised at how many people who have seen the cars and know the dealership have told me their preference, of the Douglass Yenkos to the Canonsberg ones.
You nor I alone are the market, to say that one car, any car which has a special and distinct History, Options will never equal the price of another similar car would be a mistake IMO.
Two years ago I stated that a Douglass Sold Yenko could have more value than a similar Double COPO but not equal the price of a Canonsberg Yenko. My coment was made based on prior sales and current Supply and demand. I knew of no one seeking a Douglass Built Yenko. Today that has changed.
Maurice,
I would also concur that a Yenko Stinger Built by Don Yenko has more market value than an over the counter one, but both are still Yenko Stingers.
As far as values go I guess we will have a chance to find out but I have been offered more than your established ceiling of $20,000.00 for my recent aquisition YSO71. I would pay even more than that today for a few Stingers with some unique history, like one prepared by Dick Harrell!
This doen't make me right or someone else wrong.
If I didn't live and play in Chicago I might not have the same perspective. I do get out every once in a while. /ubbthreads/images/icons/laugh.gif
