I removed the orange paint from the motor lift brackets on the car and now the metal has a shiny look. I think I goofed by buffing the paint off!! What can I do or use to get the metal to look right? Would simply bead blasting work or would that also leave a shiny surface?? Thanks, Jim /ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif

Glass beading the part will take the shine off in most cases depending on how deep you buffed it. I either finish mine off afterwords with Boe-Shield, cast blast or orange paint depending on the quality of the car and if it is an aluminum intake.

Boe shield was developed by Boeing to protect bare metal. Good stuff that is a clear spray that kind of puts a waxy coating on the metal.

Exactly as Charley stated. Boeing developed it for use on their landing gear that is subject to extremely high and low temperatures as well as liquid sprays. The nice part is, it dries to a dull finish and depending on how thick you put it on, you cannot feel it either. It is perfect for bare nuts, bolts, clips etc that people used to use clear on (which doesn't last). I have the link on my office computer which has been down for 2 weeks so look up under search words Boeing Boe-shield. It is available at most large marine or bicycle retail stores.
