Are there web sites that list vehicle build dates (by month)for Chevelles and Novas?

Ok then......what would be the build month for a Nova with a Vin 394XXX. Also, a Chevelle with a Vin. 357XXX.

Do you have the trim tag info. That should help determine the build date. If you post that here I am sure someone can help you. There are guys here that really know their stuff when it comes to decoding trim tags (I however am not one of them). /ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif Jim

Mike;
1969 Novas with a VIN in the 394XXX range will have build dates somewhere in the 01B to 02A range.

1970 Novas with a VIN in the 394XXX range will have build dates somewhere in the 06C to 07B range.

The spread between the build dates for the same VIN range might be attributable to the GM strike during the 1970 build year.

I believe a 1969 Chevelle with a VIN in the 357XXX range will have build dates somewhere in the 02D to 03A range.

I can't imagine anyone needing to know the build date ranges for a specific VIN. Well I can imagine one reason, but then I am suspicious. If you have the VIN and the car has a trim tag and you post it someone will be more than willing to tell you the two look correct or not.

Next someone will ask what the body number range should be.

Sorry,

Giving the year might have helped. '69. Thanks Marlin, you answered my question. I was looking at a couple of VIN numbers listed on the COPO site and I was just trying to get an approximate build date range.

Thanks again,
Mike

Although it might appear suspicious, this type of info is useful when you are cruising car shows, junk yards, etc... Sometimes you can't remember VIN or Body number ranges, but a specific month of the year might be easier to remember.

I remember one time I climbed up a wall of cars in a yard because I saw a '70 F-green Nova, rear sway bar option and single fuel line. When I finally got up there, and climbed into the engine bay, I checked the trim tag and found 06C - one week off - bummer! The car turned out to be a big block, L78, a/t, column, rubber mat, bench seat car. Everything was gone except the heater box cover, and core support - neither of which was usable. I did get the lower spring brackets with the extra ear on them, they were laying in the back seat. I probably could have found more stuff, but it was a precarious situation, and the 240z that was crushing the roof in didn't help any /ubbthreads/images/icons/blush.gif

Mike;
My '69 Nova has a VIN of 417320, and a build date of 02A. So, VIN's of 394XXX should be before 02A.

I know that the earliest '69 Yenko Novas have a build dates of 01A, and two more towards the middle/end with build dates of 04B/04C. So, the '69 Y-Novas have a pretty good spread of build dates and VIN ranges, ie: approx. 5 months of production representing approx. 80,000 cars!
