I was reading an article on Camaro Pace Cars and was wondering what ever happened to the other tracks pace cars such as The Rebel 400 (Darlington) car, the Carolina 500 car, the Michigan International Speedway car, the 8th 24 hrs of Daytona pacer, the Staley 400 car from Wilkesboro Speedway, the Virginia 500 car, The Daytona 500 car, the Talladega 500 and then the Bristol Southerastern 500 car. All were White 69 RS/SS Convts most with the Chevy Dog Dish caps. (How did they keep those on at speed on the track) All with the exception of the Indy Pacer had the hockey stick stripes down the side Nice article with pics of the cars along with a 1/2 page on a 67 Pacer (Indy) that the mag shows a VIN of 124677N192215

Also in the same Mag is 4 page article on a LeMans Blue 69 Chevelle Yenko SC 427 VIN shown and stated is: 136379B408777

I believe the Talledega one is in Alberta Canada. Guy picked it up in Chatanooga Tennessee about 2 years ago. The car is loaded options, pwr windows, air cond.,tilt, am.fm four speaker blue dot stereo, folding seat, console guages, rear shoulder seat belt, urathane front bumper, head light washers, fibre optics, pwr top, 396 350 HP, Auto,
and was pretty original when purchased.

It's a 12B X22 coded car.

While we are discussing pace cars it is interesting, at least ,to me that all of the unsold or spoken for Indy 500 festival cars were purchased by Jack Douglass Chevrolet, after the event.

Jack Douglass was one of the track dignitaries, for the festival and presented a then Ultra Modern Gold ,digital watch to Vince Piggens, during track ceremonies.

Does anyone have a photo?

Bear with me while I try to figure out how to post a picture. Got these last year, great place to show them off. I know little of this car and would like to know if anyone knows anything about either one. FORGET IT! says the files too big so I split it into three separate pictures and It's still too big. Can I e-mail them to someone with a brain tomorrow when I get to work so you can figure a way? I think they are worth it? Tom

Festival, I used to have a brain, but I spent the weekend epoxy coating my garage floor /ubbthreads/images/icons/crazy.gif
Email me your picture and I will see if I can post it with the remaing brain cells that the epoxy fumes haven't got to.

Unreal, that Talladega pacer was down there for years running around in north AL & GA. I did not know it had been sold either. Also the Charlotte car has been restored and it is loaded: RS/SS, 396,M40,D55,D80,U17,VE3 plus more! It is white with dk.blue deluxe interior, black hockey sticks, and a roll bar. The wheels were the base XT wheels. The car was on display at Floyds for about a year. Most of these non-Indy pace cars were optioned like this one was, same color combo also. I have seen a couple that had red deluxe interiors with red hockey sticks........................RatPack............. .........

We fluffed up the Charlotte car before it went into Floyds museum (back in 96). Dick Bridges owned it at the time, I dont know if he stil does or not.

Great Pictures.I have a 1967 16mm Movie that is 40 min. long and called,"Junior Mis Pageant".It has many new 1967 Pace Camaros in it,and one of them resembles the Camaro in the first picture.

I'm endlessly searching for 67 Indy Camaro photos as a group of my Pace Car friends and myself want to find original photos of our numbered Festival cars at the track or in the parade. Is the movie you have of Indy pacers or other track cars? How can I get a copy of it from you? Does anyone know if either of these pictured cars still exist? The 67 Indy pacer that way given away to the Indy Queen is owned by a friend of mine #33

I believe that the last time I saw the North Wilkesboro Nascar PaceCar , it was located in a suburb of Phoenix, by a private collector that I once new. I may still have pics of that car; was a loaded light monitored 1969 car with blue comfortweave, 325hp/396 car and doc'd by Bill France, jr.

They did have a 68 Pace Car just not for the Indy 500. The 68 RS/SS (White with Ivy Gold interior was the Pace Car that was the Daytona's 500 pace car and the tracks pace car for that year. Car had a 350/396 mated to a Turbo 400 back to a 12 bolt with 2:73:1 rearend. Anoung its options was AC. Car had most of the drivers and dignitaries signatures who were part of the '68 Speedweek and the Daytona 500. Was left to rust away and found and restored by Auto Custom Carpets and Year One. Last known to be on display at international motorsports hall of Fame, Talladega Superspeedway. Did the PowerTour 2000. I took some pics of the article but when I resized them they tend to be blurry. If anyone would like a better pic let me know and ill e-mail them to you.
