Just returned from Vette Fest. Great show & met lots of great people. I am going to sell my white COPO Camaro which was at the show. This car was the former L72 Lamar Walden vehicle, I have spoken with Lamar & verified the story. Car is white with blue, rosewood wheel, style trim group, COPO certificate, number's matching engine and lots more. Great race history, restored by Lamar at his shop. This is the vehicle given to Lamar by Chevrolet for racing. Beautiful interior. Odo. shows 473 miles (?). You can see photos of the car on the 'past feature cars' December 2000. I have had the top surfaces of the car soda blasted & painted. It looks great. Fresh carb. overhaul. I have some previous title history. This is a nice car with GREAT history. $78,900.00. I have other photos I can e mail, if you are serious. Pls. send me a private message or try my regular e mail,
[email protected]. Thanks
Great interior. Refreshing to see something other than black. I predict that car sells by tommorrow night.

Most folks on this site know the Lamar Walden story. Both this car, the L72, & the ZL1 were white with blue, it is NICE & FRESH!. Lamar got the ZL1 car 1st, then this car sometime in April '69. He raced the car in the Super Stock C Class & did VERY well,10.80's according to Lamar, when the car was race ready. Other options on the car, according to the sticker, Soft ray glass, D80 spoilers, Power Brakes, 4 speed manual, Sport Styled Wheels,, White Lettered Tires, Style Trim Group, 4.56 Rear Axle Ratio. NEAT car!

"according to the sticker" The original window sticker is with the car?
Is it the original 4.56 axle?
Nice colors!!
Thanks!

Kurt;
What I have is a copy of the sticker, it does indicate a 4.56 rear end. I have some documentation on the car, including the original COPO certificate. I can provide some information to the new buyer where they may be able to get some additional documentation. Thanks, Pat

Pat, Do you mean Chevrolet gave this COPO to Lamar no charge or did Lamar have to buy it? If you get a chance to talk to him, ask him about Vince Piggins (Chevy Engineer) who was working with the racers to help them race and win with Chevy products. I have asked Bill Jenkins, and Joel Rosen about Vince Piggins and am always looking for more information on what Vince was doing. From what I can tell he was very actively working an underground Chevy racing operation trying to win races while trying to respect the racing ban Chevy management had dictated.

Joe;
My understanding was that Chevrolet gave both the ZL1 & this L72 to Lamar. He was very sucessful driver & won lots of races in the 60's.In the conversation I had with him he told me his dad was also a sucessful drag racer. Lamar was doing quite well racing in the 60's, then at one of the races there was a bad accident. After the accident Lamar took time off. Since the manufacturer's were so keen on racing & the exposure it created for their car sales they wanted to have their cars racing & winning & have winning drivers in their cars. Chevrolet approached Lamar after a period of time & enticed him back to the track offering these cars, the ZL1 & the L72 (gifts) to lure him back to the track. He was VERY successful with both cars. So much so that the Mopar guys complained enough that Chevy could no longer use the ZL1's after 1970. I have not heard anything regarding Vince, but what you indicate in your e mail is very possible. I will try & get a hold of Lamar & ask him any info. regarding Vince.
