On page 19 of the 'Dupont Registry' there is a full page ad for Reggies Cars that will be for sale at the Barrett Jackson Auction:
1969 ZL-1 (#51) Dover White w/ Blue interior
1968 Yenko Camaro 4 spd, Red/Vinyl Top
1969 Yenko Chevelle Auto
1970 Yenko Deuce LT-1 Original Paint and Interior
http://www.reggiejackson.com/auto-auction/index.cfm
You must be talking about the Jan. issue. There is no such thing in the Dec issue. Nor do I see #51 listed on his site. /ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif

Cool cowl-plenum setup on his Chevelle...was that a factory optino in '69? What a great looking car! Anyone have any more info on this car, like it's history, if it's original/restored, etc?

Rob, that sounds like Carl Dwiggins old Chevelle. He had added the cowl plenum years ago and that is the only Yenko Chevelle that I have ever seen with it. It was featured in the June 1988 Car Craft..............RatPack......................

Just because they are REGGIE cars is their value enhanced? IMO REGGIE is just a dealer, roller that has the funds to try to play the market. I don't really think he knows or gives a rip about these cars!!! I have tried to have casual conversations about these cars with him and found him to be a complete jerk!! All he wanted to know was what I thought they were worth. I honestly don't think of him as a "Car Guy" It might be a powerplay for him, who knows?? Jim /ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif I apologize for sounding so negative, but this aura about a "REGGIE" car just bugs me!!
I can't imagine how many tire-kickers and BS'ers he has encountered over the years. I personally had never seen a Reggie car in person, until Holub's new acquisitions. They are all very nice cars. Is it a business, or hobby? Both I would say, not just him, but most of us. I have heard he has in excess of 125 cars. Rumor has it he is selling off some cars due to a new business venture. I just acquired a fathom green, 42k unrestored Copo camaro that he owned for 7 years in the 80's. Heavily documented. Gentleman I purchased the car from has had it stored for 13 years. Is it worth more because it was his? Can't hurt, makes for good conversation. To me, because my business is in the sports industry, and my 4 boys play ball, it is neat. In fact, my 16 year old is going to learn to drive a stick in this very car! Hope the clutch is in good order! /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif

Dave, are you inferring that I am either a "tire kicker" or "BS'r" or both?? /ubbthreads/images/icons/blush.gif (just kidding). I just found the man to be very uncordial. I asked him for nothing and was not interested in even talking baseball and we were actually at a shoeshine stand in Seattle. As LaDonna said "he was just plain rude!!" Don't want to start a "love/hate" thread about Mr October /ubbthreads/images/icons/tongue.gif Jim
You know I love you Jim. /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif

So, was that cowl-plenum setup available from the factory on a Chevelle? Was it worth a darn performance-wise?
It was an over the parts counter item in the mid 60s. There were a few different versions to fit the different Models.

Well at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale January 2002, Mr. Reggie Jackson was Actually talking to me and Very Friendly--Oh Yea I guess it helped as I was BIDDING on his Orange COPO and he knew it. Ha-ha. We were laughing at 2 guys bidding on a '67 L-89 Corvette and when the guy was the highest bidder Reggie said "Do you know that is an L-89 Corvette NOT an L-88 Corvette?" Maybe I'll see him again this year when we go. Does anyone know the story on the automatic on the floor on his Yenko Chevelle?? Is that Correct?? Mark /ubbthreads/images/icons/laugh.gif

Dave,
Reggie has been through a very large volume of cars over the years, maybe even more than both of us combined /ubbthreads/images/icons/smirk.gif some are very nice and some were not so very nice. To make a blanket statement that all his "Reggie's" cars are nice cars would not be a very accurate satement.
I'm certain that You and Gary did get one of the "nice" ones, however.
My interest is not in a Reggie car but a Lamar car. Lamar worked on my hot-rods in the 60s and early 70s and I wouldn't mind getting Lamar's #51 in the fold. If you were a hot rodder in the 60s in this area you know Lamar Walden was and still is the man. I am not, however, interested in adding $50k to someone's fortunes for sentimental reasons.
Stefano, my blanket statement was referring to the cars Holub purchased from "Reggie". Certainly noone could buy and sell as many cars as Reggie and every one be a #1 car. What are you doing? Dissecting my posts? /ubbthreads/images/icons/smirk.gif
Mark, on automatic floor shift. Supposedly a few Yenko Chevelles came through with console and horse shoe shifter. The Gold one has it also. I have not seen any build sheets on them but could be true. Most auto Y Chevelles came with column shifter and were converted to Hurst Duel gate and a few were left as column shift.

Super Chevy magazine back in the mid '80's under Doug Marion portayed Reggie as the "Cat's Meow" of the musclecar world. Reggie even had his own musclecar column. I think it was titled something like "Ask Reggie". I just came back from an automotive museum during vacation and the owner was collecting the money to get in. Had the personality of a cinder block and a disposition of a bear. Maybe I caught him on a bad day. He was another of Marion's Super Chevy "Golden Boy's" of years past.
Dave
Reggie had/has a guy who took care of his cars. I have a video recorded from a TV show where this guy was showing the Yenko Chevelle and talking about it.

Dave,
Would that have been a Florida or Tennessee vacation? /ubbthreads/images/icons/wink.gif
I had e-mailed Reggie with a very thorough explanation of my LS-6 research and told him I had located the twin El Camino to his sold at Clements Chevrolet in Rochester, MN. The cars were built within days of each other. I told him I understood if he did not want to discuss with me but to please at least acknowledge my e-mail..........Never heard a word. /ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif

I visited Reggie's museum a couple of years ago, our whole car club went and it was free. We were there for hours, had a full tour and asked a lot of questions. My impression was overwhelmingly positive, everyone had a great time and learned a lot. The cars were all nice, but he did have a few too many for the space available. I wish I had that problem, but it looks like he is taking care of that now. I never did get to meet him in person, but I don't think that he is just in this for the money, he clearly loves his cars.

I had better not say what state. However I will tell you about our vacation. Pigeon Forge is getting just like Branson. My wife who is a horse lover had to stop by the Tennessee Walking Horse association headquarters. I thought about stopping by a seeing Ratpack & Copoloco. Saw a nice '68 Camaro for sale outside of Chattanooga. Wife got sick on the winding roads of the Smokey Mountains ( was driving the '02 Camaro and got a little carried away). Never been to Florida but heard it's nice.

Dave, I can respect that. Likely he was having a bad day. I hear he's a pretty good guy. I did a resto on one of his cars before he bought it in 1980-81? but have never dealt personally with him. However, I would love to have his collection!

And Dave why didn't you call? You looked in the phone book and there was not a listing for RatPack right? That "golden boy" you referred to could have given it to you. Man you were less than 30 minutes away from me and Copoloco and you have to pass my house to get from Chattanooga to Pigeon Forge or the other way around. No excuses there buddy! /ubbthreads/images/icons/tongue.gif I will remember you on the next trip. At least you came down here to God's Country and got to see some beautiful scenery............ /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif ........RatPack..........
p.s. We could have gotten you in for free and been given a guided tour............... /ubbthreads/images/icons/shocked.gif

Yes, I was probably a little harsh in my description and he probably is a good guy. I should not base my opinion on that one brief encounter. As a business owner myself I've been known to be a little grouchy myself at times. I overheard two other visitors saying to each other confirmed what I was thinking because they were the ones trying to have a conversation with the owner. It was early in the morning if that had anything to do with it-maybe the coffee was not yet kicking in. Maybe the new property tax bill came in the mail. It is a very nice museum and I would go back.

I spoke to Mr. Jackson at The Barriett-Jackson in 2002 and was not bidding on his car. I found him to be really nice, and very willing to discuss cars. Midway into our conversation-Mr. Jackson asked me to call him by his first name. Perhaps he is tired of being treated as a "Public item" by so many people, and responds in a negitive way as a result. I just know that after a simple 5 minute conversation he gave me his business card and told me to call him and stop by to see his cars-anytime I was in California. (No I did not take him up on the offer)
