View Full Version : 69 Camaro Goodmark Fender
Does anyone have first hand experience using Goodmark Fenders on a 69 Camaro? I know some of their body parts are as good as NOS, while others are so-so.

Charlie,
I know I am going to get Flamed but I know someone who just used the New Repro Doors Fenders and hood and alignment is as good as anything that ever came out of the factory with minimal work to get it there.
I would still use NOS/vintage parts on a Super Car however.
"Shor" has a stock pile of NOS sheet metal that he might part with?
/ubbthreads/images/icons/blush.gif I kind of got used to all of them hanging from the rafters in my garage attic /ubbthreads/images/icons/blush.gif !!
I just had to navigate thru all of them to get the Christmas boxes out!! /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif
OK Scrooge....er Shor, care to part with a passenger side fender? /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif

This sounds like a candidate for a re-body.A WHOLE fender ? Way too much work...Does Goodmark make complete bodies now ?

Actually Now that you brought it up, Complete Bodies "may" become available for the 1969 Camaro.

Stefano is right about the fit of the current Goodmark items. The 69 fenders are almost indistinguishable from original GM fenders and are actually of better quality than some of the last ones GM stamped out.................RatPack.................

I know that Joe at www.thepartsplaceINC.com (http://www.thepartsplaceINC.com) has some NOS left but they are "Yenko" $$$$

I was over at the Camaros.net site and someone posted a rumor that GM was going to get
back in the sheet metal stamping business because of all the money being made by
vendors. That would be great, but probably just rumor mill.

I would be surprised if they did. Why would GM invest a lot of money in dies, labor, wharehousing, shipping, etc when they already get a decent cut off every GM repo part made now. Doesn't seem like there would be enough additional profit to make it worthwhile for them.

I agree with what you said. Ford has sold ALL of their old tooling and dies for all the old Mustang( as well as other cars) sheetmetal/emblems etc to several out side private vendors. Dennis Carpenter Reproductions being one of them. I heard through the Mustang mags that DC bought something like 75-100 tractor trailer loads of NOS parts from Fords's warehouses. Ford has nothing in terms of NOS available anymore. Ford officially said it was not worth their time and effort to cater to the old car crowd. In the scheme of things, old parts were just a miniscule fraction of Fords sales. However all the parts now being made on original dies are "licensed" so I'm sure they get their cut. I'm glad this happened. One of the vendors is coming out with the 64 1/2 Mustang hood (different from the 65 on up) from the original tooling. If Ford still controlled this tooling that never would have happened.

That 'attitude' is pricisely why Ford has set record Sales and profit levels not to mention their increase in market penetration this past year /ubbthreads/images/icons/tongue.gif

Good points ss427 and whitetop. What bugs me is where the repro stuff is made. I would gladly buy repro fenders etc if the stuff was made here. If I'm buying a specific item and I have a choice of Made in USA or made in Tawain I gladly pay a little extra for US stuff. Beside our jobs the quality is always better. Brent
