Almost time for the biggest Auction on the planet..add in the Russo-Steele and it is quite an event. This year at the Barrett opening gala is Ole-Shell's Birthday party. I am already in. Who's going? Hint-Holub's bringing the pizza, Hassett is bringing the dough, Lillard says he's bringing golf clubs /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/wink.gif

We are going. Will be at the Russo Steele auction also. Need to devise a plan to recognize each other. Charley is always easy to spot in a crowd but for the rest of us maybe we should wear our new Yenko shirts Kevin got for us. /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif Jim

-----As I am going down to the Russo+Steele auction it would be a treat to meet up with some of you guys.Ill be easy to find as "Red Alert" is entered in the Russo+Steele auction. Not sure which day yet,but Ill be there the Monday before.
-----As an aside:The 20 mile LS-6 will be there as well.If you dont know the car,its red w/black bench gut, auto.Miles are real(20).Ive known this car and its owners for well over twenty years, and it is undoubtably the best unrestored Chevelle extant.
-----Buy the pair.Life is short!!!!!!......Bill S....ol red!

Do you think $400,000.00 will buy the pair of LS6s?

Stefano,

-------Believe it or not you are pretty close,if what I have heard about the reserve on the 20 mile car is correct.........Bill S.....ol red!

Stefano is this the LS6 that was discussed a few months back on the board? The one that had only a couple miles on it like this that had the smog removed with only 20 miles on it along with other "fluffing". I think it was said that the plastic was on the seats still but the smog thing seemed strange.

If there is enough interest I will contact Barrett to see if we can get one of the 16 person tables reserved for Wednesday evening. For those of you not bidding we might be able to scrounge up some additional gala passes from the other bidders-if there are extras. /ubbthreads/images/icons/ooo.gif

Frank,

------Plastic was never on the seats of the 20 mile car that I know of,but you are right about the smog.I would have thought the current owner would have replaced the smog by now.I rode in that car from 12 miles up to about 18 back in 1980 app.I think the car was at another auction a while back, but the reserve was way too high.It was bid up into the $300,000 area, and I was assured the bidding was real.
------Looking forward to putting some faces to names in January............Bill S.....ol red!

Any update on getting together? Talked to Crawford this week and sounds like he and Holub are going. We will be at the Gala Wed at Barrett Jackson and Thurs night at Russo Steele. We had a great time at the Russo Steele auction last year. Drew and Josephine really did a nice job. /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif Jim

Hey, you guys do your best to keep the prices up, I don't want the value of my car dropping now that I have everything tied up in it. /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif I'll be watching on my black and white tv if I can get the rabbit ears working!

Norm,

Correct. As I recall speaking to Rick of Reggie's cars in the spring of 02, that Reggie's entire collection of Yenkos was for sale for U.S.$1 million (as a set only) at that time.

The auction will surely prove a good indicator of where Yenkos are valued in todays market when these cars cross the block.

Am curious how much stage time he gets to pump his cars. Last year the COPO bidding stalled and he talked it up and the bidding went higher! Will these cars sell for more since they are "Reggie's"? I think those #'s will be on Sat night which will be televised. I thought he sold the white ZL1 a year ago at the Monterrey auction. Jim

It does not say the ZL-1 was Reggies
But the picture looks like Reggies garage and in the ZL-1 registry
Shows Reggie has a dover white ZL-1 I think he still owns it

Reggie had 2 white ZL1's. The one that sold at the Petersen Museum auction had black interior. The one he is putting in this auction is the Old Lamar Walden ZL1 with Blue interior that matches the COPO tht I believe Patrick just bought ?

Charlie;
I believe you are correct that the ZL1 Reggie owns & will be at Barrett Jackson is the former Lamar Walden car. I DID own the COPO Lamar raced. I was made one of those "offers I couldn't refuse" so it has a new residence.

The BJ site has an interesting description on the blue 68 Yenko that raises a few questions. Not sure what they mean by "1 of 7 Super Sport" and it looks like they are saying the reverse lockout shifter was installed by Yenko?
Not sure who Greg Jefferies is but does he really "authenticate" Yenkos? Is he a member here?

quote from BJ...
"THIS IS A FULLY DOCUMENTED 1968 CAMARO SUPER SPORT YENKO. YENKO# YS8013. THIS IS CAR NUMBER 13 OF 65 PRODUCED IN 1968 AND THIS IS 1 OF 7 SUPER SPORT MODELS PRODUCED IN 1968. CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH THE 427 CU IN ENGINE PRODUCING 450 HP PLUS. IT IS A 4-SPEED CAR WITH REVERSE LOCKOUT HANDLE. REAR END IS 4:10 POSI TRACTION. THIS CAR IS CORRECT IN EVERY WAY AND WAS OWNED BY TWO OF THE MOST PROMINENT YENKO CLUB MEMBERS. HAS BEEN AUTHENTICATED BY GREG JEFFERIES. CAR IS RESTORED TO ORIGINAL. STUNNING PIECE."

I believe the ys#8013 is the yenko that was on ebay recently. It was owned by a car dealer in california. Roger

Marlin, you can go to the Barrett Jackson website and see the list by day. My guess is that these cars will be a primetime Fri or Sat night. Speed Channel has expanded its coverage to include both Fri and Sat night. We are on our way over there today. Hope to see some of you guys tonight. Jim /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif
