I've been reading up on diferentiating between the different VINs, X-codes and what not and I'm still a bit confused. What determines that a car is 'matching numbers'? How can I tell if my car is a 327/210hp or the 327/275hp? Is the easiest way by decoding the Protect-O-Plate?

Also, in pre-'69 Camaros (ie '67 and '68) is it true that nothing more than a 'date correct' match can be made for the engine/tranny? I've been trying to read up on www.camaros.org (http://www.camaros.org), but the site is poorly layed out and confusing. Can anyone help by answering and/or giving me another source?

Thanks in advance!

Come on over to the Team Camaro pages and put your cars info in the Tag Team Section.

Also as for your question as to the engine and its rating, If the car has its orginal engine in it, the Engine Suffix code on the engine will let you know what the engine was. For the eingines a partial VIN should also be stamped on the block near the Engine code. Again this will tell you if it belongs to the car in question. Tranny will also have a date code along with partial VIN. If you have the POP for the car post it there also and someone will help with the decode.
