It's a L-88/ZL-1 manifold. You see them on Ebay alot and usually go for around 225-300
bucks but the more interesting thing is they usually have a date in 1968 or 1973. I dont
have any idea why. /ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif

well I can understand 68 but why 73? Or was it a fallout from 68 and the delay time it takes for the workin' stiff to hear(and chevy to respond) about these hi po parts and Chevy had enough demand to make more? NASCAR was done with BBC right?Or could it be Chevy responded to a NHRA spec class?

Hi,

I also have the same manifold. Except it has the last 2 numbers ground off and restamped "98".

The casting date is 8.1.8 Which would be Aug,1 1968.
All markings appear to be correct.

Does anyone know exactly when these manifolds first started production for the L-88 or ZL-1?? I think the early ones had the ground off numbers and the later ones were the full cast number?

Also on the bottom of my manifold there are numbers in a row just above the casting date, that go 12345678. Up to the number 5, there are stampings of some shape over these cast numbers. I think the stamp was for the manufacturing processes' as they were completed?? Anyone have any idea?? Sorry for the long post.

thanks
pete
