I ran into a guy who doesnt live far from me, 10 years ago before he got married he was into 69 Chevelles, he disposed of everything he thought to be good, but he tells me he has a stripped 69 Chevelle SS rotting in the weeds that has a By Berger emblem and the remains of Berger Decals on the bumper and Quarter glass. I live about twenty minutes from the home of Berger, so this would not be odd. My question is were those emblems and decals placed on all new cars from Berger back then or were they native only to Berger Supercars? Before I start stomping around in the snow, mud and weeds, is this a hunt worth taking or were the emblems/decals common to all Berger cars then.
Thanks,
Motown /ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif

Motown, where is your sense of adventure? That is half the fun of looking for these cars: getting wet, being cold, having the flu for a month after doing that! Who knows, that could be a "diamond in the rough", or it could be just a lump of coal. /ubbthreads/images/icons/shocked.gif I would be going to look at it if it is close by whether it was a Malibu, SS, or other. /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif ..........RatPack..............
As far as the emblem on the rear, I would assume that all of the cars got them. Give Berger a call and see what they say...............
What color is it? There was a Berger 427 COPO Chevelle drag tested on same day as Berger ZL1 in 1969 (ran mid 13s) but did not make it into the magazine. It was written up years later by Roger Huntington when the debate started about if there were any 427 Chevelles factory built.
The winter may be better season for outdoor car hunting. Less foliage, bees, hornets, etc. Just where boots /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif

All cars have the "By Berger" emblem. We have a 2001 fleet Chevy Van at work that came from Berger and has that emblem.

Joe:
I don't have my issue of the ZL-1 test handy...any specifics of the berger Chevelle test other than "mid 13s"? That was right around the time SS&DI ran a Yenko Chevelle to a 13.31@108 on the skinnies...not bad!
Rob, The COPO Chevelle was drag tested same day as ZL1 but was not written up in the magazine. They never mention it in the ZL1 article. Roger H. wrote about it years later in another article. I don't remember exact time but it was mid 13s and not as quick as the SS mag test.

Motown,
Berger did place metal by Berger emblems on all new cars sold at Berger Chevy at that time. The window decals and such I believe could be purchased thru the parts dept. but we did do a few COPO Chevelle's thru our dealership. It would be worth the trip to search a little harder on this deal because to my knowledge there is not a registered Berger COPO Chevelle out there.
