In the COPO connection book there is mention of 7 ZL-1's not accounted for. Does anyone know if these have now been found??

Ed,
On your registry web site there are 15 cars listed that are destroyed and one that is wrecked.
In the COPO Connection book there are 42 accounted for and 20 that have been either stolen or destroyed. and 7 that are not accounted for.
Do the ones listed as destroyed, have their VIN's recorded and couldn't be restored?? I'm curious as to how These were accounted for, as it seems all 69 ZL-1's have now been "found".
One curious ZL-1 fanatic.

In the COPO connection on this web site it shows 52 accounted for 16 destroyed and # 69 as wreaked
There seems to be a conflict on what is right

Norm,
Exactly, its a little confusing as to what accurate. I'll never be fortunate enough to own a ZL1, but thats doesn't mean I can't be a huge fan! /ubbthreads/images/icons/cool.gif

C Williams Yes it is a bit confusing but also interesting
Since my accident and now on disability I send my time
reading up on old cars and muscle cars I have started a database
on rare cars and it can be confusing tiring to get the right data
But that is where it gets interesting The story of Fred Gibb , Dick Harrell
and lets no forget Bill Jenkins, boy could he make a small block kick
There are so many stories and cars yet to be found and
every day I learn some thing new

With a line like... 'I think I have it just maybe' you are going to have to start a thread and tell us what you have found! With pictures!!

Be real careful with old race cars. There is one well-known ZL-1 that is beyond re-body; the only original part is the VIN tag. Rumors persist about others.
If #29 was wrecked and was known as a ZL-1 at the time the same thing could have happened. Have someone who knows the cars well check out the hidden VINs, body tag and other features that would reveal a re-body.

I have the book, what info do you want? It was hugger orange, 4-speed, black interior, 14" wheels
If you are contending that the pic you had posted of Bill McKay's Super Stocker is #29 it would make sense. It was driven by Grady Bryant. Sammy Kalil drove the other McKay 427 Camaro Super Stocker.

There are no copies of original docs for #29 in the book. All Gibbs cars were the same: no options other than what was required.
However most if not all of the ZL-1 paperwork from Gibb still exists. Not in my possession but if you find the car I can hook you up. Will not be cheap.
