12 Bolt Center section Casting Number

Were the casting numbers on a BE rear different from the rest? Casting number 3894860NF sound familiar to anyone? I have a 4:10 Posi rear out of a big block 69 Camaro, after the B it looks like an E without the center prong on the E, something like [ Has a June 17 date. Also right below the possible E is another ledgible E stamped. Anything else to look for? Complete number looke like B[ 0617 g1. Second E is below the Mark similar to the other. E
Also has a different number on drivers side rear E289, and axle tubes are welded.

That is the correct casting number for a 67-69 Camaro 12-bolt. There is not any difference in the center section, only the gears and posi unit. The only way to determine what it is stamped is to completely remove any paint then wash it with mineral spirits or even lacquer thinner. While it is still wet you might be able to read the stamp better. The only other way is to do an acid test such as those done on engine stamp pads to see if the block has been restamped................RatPack..............
