Yes, Byrons site is way cool. If your into old gassers and want to see the legends come on over to Thompson OH in June. Don Garlits will also be coming to make a couple passes. Ohio George, Big John, KS Pittman, JR THompson and many other greats will be there. This is my gasser I will be restoring when I get a chance in my spart time.

The Mazmainian car is in WA right now. This car was raced around here for several years in A/G out of A speed shop in Cleveland, Hart Automotive which had quite a few cars. Ran 8.60's back then. Blown and Injected 392 hemi.

What are the front rims on that Crager SS?? are they spindle mounted? Front brakes?? My neighbor has a 48 Angelia hes putting together that has the front end with OLD spindle mounted rims minus front brakes. and to think it will be street legal here!!!???

Right now its rust and black gelcoat. It was a rootbeer brown in color. It has Cragar SS wheels, 15X4 in the front 15X10 in the rear (I need those too) no brakes up front. They use a ford bolt pattern in front, GM in rear. It had a Pontiac/Old type rear. Our original racecar had spindle mount wheels and my current car does too except I run brakes. They can be adapted to the old stuff. Here is a photo of the car I race now.

Mickey
I have an extra set of early style 15x4 Ford bolt pattern Cragar SS. I just sent another set to Stockton Wheel to get replated. As soon as I get them back safe and sound I could let go of these if you need them. They are the early type-with correct spoke shape etc. They are not pitted but need replating due to haze/scratches etc. I also have a set of unlug early style 15x10's also.

I may have a line on a nice set of fronts, not sure. I dont want unilug rears though. If you run across a nice set of 15X10's let me know, any bolt pattern will work since I need axles anyway, I can get them drilled. They need to be a deep dish style too. Thanks

Real trip down memory lane... I have beem reading this thread with an ache in my heart... Back in 1976 I bought a Blown Hemi 1940 Willys B/Gasser, bright orange, wheelie bars, parachute, the whole works. I tapped water into the block, added a radiator, lights, mufflers,(if you could call them that), and proceded to race Woodward and Gratiot avenues in Detroit. At that time I had the fastest car on the streets of Detroit in the 8 second bracket, this was before Pro Street was invented, back at a time when the cops in Detroit blocked off a section of road and charged everyone to run to cover the cost of emergency crews standing by. I was finally upstaged by two off duty Detroit cops who bought a wrecked Nova funny car and rebuilt it, adding Radiator, lights, etc, and ran the streets of Detroit with it. They beat me. I will never forget that night after the race, sitting in a parking lot with the body of the funny car up, the smell of nitro in the air, and having just raced two of Detroits finest without getting a ticket. Those were the days....That was early in this hobby before everyone(including me) hauled there cars around on trailers, spent as much time cleaning and detailing as driving them, and having one of the biggest worries not getting beat or blowing a motor, but rather having to worry about the current market value of our cars... All of us who own the cherished Supercars/Musclecars of today should build a street monster to go out and take this hobby back to the time when the guy at the top of the heap had the quickest car, not the most valuable or rarest. I sold that Willys to a friend who still has it, I have been trying for years to break him down to sell it back to me, I think I almost got it. If I succeed I will not garage that car to sit, I will be back on Woodward reliving my childhood and most likely going to jail in the process. I am going to try to dig out an old photo to scan and post here, from a time when I still had hair and could still see my belt buckle, and better time that has past into history never to come again.....What a Gas! /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif
Thanks,

THESE old gasser cars are HOT right now. A lot being built, restored, raced and even the show car thing. I have had a few inquiries on doing them lately so I know its picking up steam. I have heard thru the grapevine that a couple of famous racers have changed hands recently for nearly ZL-1 type money (300K).

This isnt a gasser but it was my weekend warrior in the mid 70s. It was street strip and ran 11:90. Not the fastest car on the block, but I drove it to work and back a lot Weather permitting.
