I have a bill of lading for 6 cars (2 Chevelles and 4 Camaros) delivered to Gates from Yenko 4/69. It shows the delivery date and amt paid by dealer by vin#. Our car was one of the Camaros and was wondering if anyone here owned any of the other 5. Jim

Jim;
I don't remember the VIN's on that sheet off the top of my head, but I believe that the four Camaros might include;

Bill Hunters Orange Camaro that he blew the engine of the first night he owned it, now Mick Prices car.

Bill Hunters Yellow Camaro that he traded the orange one in on.

A Yellow Camaro that is not found to my knowledge.

Your Blue Camaro.

And an Olympic Gold Camaro that is not found to my knowledge.

The Chevelles might be;
A Butternut Yellow one owned by George Lyons in PA.
A Huggar Orange 4sp, not found.
Possibly a Garnet red car, also not found.

If you supply the VIN's from the sheet, I can pair them up with these possibilities.

I can't handle the superbowl, the eagles didn't show up for their game against the buc's - they had a relatively easy road to the bowl, and they blew it. We're going to start throwing stuff at the players soon, forget the opposing team's fans.

I would have to put my money on the raiders, or anyone who can shut Warren Sapp up.

The two Burris brothers, from Osceola, Indiana each bought blue Yenkos from Gates Chevrolet in Mishawaka Indiana. One Nova, one Chevelle. In 69 everyone raced what the drove, and these guys raced the p*ss out of their cars, street and strip. Gates (574-256-3000 if you are interested) was hot and heavy into performance at the time, having ZL-1 engines, shopping carts full of Muncies and full line of other GM performance parts in stock. The parts managers at the time were Bill Schugars and Donnie Radar. Schugars came back as parts manager a couple of years ago after years of running his own parts store. He's a gear head, and has lots of pics (several scrap books full) like Jenkins/Strickler when they were on tour for Chevrolet in 69. As for those two Yenko cars, there's no one I've yet found that has a clue where they went.

I don't know how many 69 sYc Camros were sold from Gates but three out of 5 that Marlin mentioned are still in original condition. that seeem like a pretty good survival rate for original Yenkos.

Jim, I own the Gates Butternut Yellow Chevelle that Milt thinks may be in your paperwork. Last two of VIN are 034. I have had the car for about 14 years and am fortunate in that the orig owner found me and gave me lots of great paperwork but always excited to hear there may be more. Please let me know & Thanks, George Erie, Pa.

Jim, NWYENKO, made my day & reminded me how great it is when real enthusiasts work together. Yes, the bill of lading from Yenko to Gates does in fact show my Chevelle as Marvin suspected. Jim sent me a perfect copy. CLASS ACT !
