I was recently informed that Tom Stephani has acquired the Mid 1960s Can Am Race car sponsored by Nickey Chevrolet , of Chicago and owned by Dan Blocker. I belive that the drivers name was Cannon(?).

Does anyone have pictures or any additional info. regarding this Historic Race Car?

Anyone who wants photos can email me at [email protected] I can't attach them here because they are too big and I don't know how to reduce the size of them.

Yes Joe, I bought the Vinegaroon, but it is restored in a different livery, post John Cannon. I'll be posting some info on the site when I get a chance. Thanks for the interest.

Player's QuŞbec St-Jovite Sept 11 1966

The Can-Am trophy races.

While Surtees and McLaren were chasing ane
another with no close competition to worry about,
many of the top centenders fell victim to various
difficulties throughout the early stages of the race.
Mark Donohue failed to complete one lap in his Lola
dropping out with broken steering. Lothar Motschen-
bacher, rapidly becoming one of the hottest young
competitors in North America, blew a tire on the 15th
lap while in third position, dropping him back con-
siderably after the pits stop and after driving a very
commendable race in the Nickey Chev McLaren had
to settle for an eighth overall finish.

Jones retired on the 20th lap with clutch problems
and a cockpit gas leak caused by a faulty gas bladder.
Skip Scott's McLaren dropped out with linkeage
troubles on the 14th lap. The Nickey Chev driven by
Charlie Hayes blew a head gasket and he retired on
the 19th lap.

The plan is for the Road America (BRIC) race to be the first one that we will attend other than a test day.

I was on the crew of a guy that went airborn at the top of the old straight at Mossport and was killed in a frissbee back in the '80's named Mike Allen. We had to pack up what was left of the car and head it back to L.A. I had met him at Las Vegas and he called me and asked me to releive his driver that was having to drive alone from L.A. to Canada straight through and was about to crash from lack of sleep. He picked me up in St Louis and I drove the rest of the way to Canada. Man, I loved the Can Am series. I was even a entrant in the Dallas GP 1984, but could not get the car ready in time. I am friends with Horst Kroll there in Canada. Do you know him? I have the sister car to his Lola T-400 of which there are only two left known to exist. (See Pic)
