greensboro had its 1st muscle car show and drag car show. it was great, a larger crowd than vettefest, a lot of drag cars and some musclecars. it was packed all day elbow to elbow. lapata and volpicelli even came. tim got and interview with big daddy don garlits on his funny car which lasted about 10 minutes and will be on ESPN and speed vision. big daddy loved the car and vowed to help find out its history.
then came my surprise, big daddy approached me and said can we interview you on your Sox and Martin 68 cuda and was amazed at its original state 14,000 miles and condition. he knew the car and couldn't believe the condition. the camera guy talked to me for 10 minutes after he shot the car and interviewed me with big daddy! i was in awe. i had the car for sale, and since have considered not selling it. that car got more attention than any car at the show as we are only 20 minutes from burlington, nc, where the car is from. it's only 20 minutes from it original home. it was driven to the west coast twice and ohio once as it raced in the superstock division and came in 2nd at the 68 winternationals. it has 2 build sheets, letters from ronnie sox and gas slips where he purchased gas in los angeles before heading to pomona. it has been featured in 15-20 magazines and currently has a mopar small block bored to 415 ci. and pushes 575hp. original sheet meteal and interior except carpet. engine compartment brand new and body in excellent condition, paint extra nice!
AND THE BEST PART IS THAT IT WILL BE ON ESPN AND SPEEDVISION AS WELL! well its nothing like getting a pat on the back and stroked by the big daddy himnself! it was a great show, i hope it will bring in even more of a crowd next year, make plans to go if it does. sorry to bore you guys , but , it was blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /ubbthreads/images/icons/laugh.gif

ESPN & ESPN2 both have o their web sites when different shows will be shown. It took about a month and a half to get the SuperChevy LV show aired so everyone should be able to find out whe. Be ready for replays late at night or early mornings

Bill,
Look again. It's only a 15 MPH speedo. That accounts for the low mileage. It took forever to get 14K on that car at 15 MPH. /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif

Cool car Kevin. I think BIG may have been mistaken that your car ran in S/S though. I think it ran E/S with a 340 c.i. engine. I have seen the S/S Hemi car and heard it run (wish I had earplugs). It lives next to another mildly famous Hemi car here in the icy Chicago area ! Gee,who could that be ? Next time I will ask for earplugs ! /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif

bluff bidder, did not meet reserve which was considerably higher! the reserve was $100,000 ,the bidder put in a bid of $101,210 which made it meet the reserve. i hate ebay auctions, last time i'll ever list a car there. a lot of flakes playing games. 1 of 1 made , original sheet metal, i don't think so! /ubbthreads/images/icons/mad.gif
whitetop
02-05-2003, 02:42 AM
I'm confused. Auction ended, listing said the reserve was met and the car rightly sold for 52K plus change to the highest bidder-whoever that may be. Therefore the high bidder gets the car right?. How can you reset the reserve at 100K after auction ended when according to Ebay the reserve was met at 50K and the high bidder won? Even at 52K your making a profit from what I remember you bought the car on Ebay for a few months ago.

I see there is NO bid retraction/cancellation history on the auction, so who is the "flake bidder" at 101210.00 ???And id love to know how in the world a seller knows how much over reserve the buyer went???? If bidder bid 101210.00 and the reserve WAS 100k,bid would have stopped at 100k..... Ill bet the bidder is going to hate ebay auctions after this too...

whitetop, does it matter what he paid for the car and how much profit he makes? He wants $100k for a documented drag car driven by probably the most popular name in racing besides Petty & Earnhardt. What I don't understand is the thinking that people have towards what people should be allowed to make on a car. If I buy a car that is worth $200k on the open market and give only $50k for it what is a fair price? $75k? I don't think so! A fair price is $200k, why would I want to sell for less? Should it matter that I clear $150k? No. Now lets say I bought the same car for $160k and sell it for $200k, is that a better deal since I would make less money?
You buy and sell parts just like I do, sometimes you pay only $100 for a rack of gauges that is worth $450. Why don't you sell them for $250.00 instead and make only $150 over what you paid and pass that $200 savings onto the person you sell them to? Now you may do that for someone you know, and you have done that, but when it is on Ebay or at a swap meet you sell them for all that you can get just like I do. /ubbthreads/images/icons/wink.gif
Now this post is not to degrade you, but to degrade the statement you made. I have heard the same type of statement from other guys on this board about other cars for sale and this thinking is wrong. If the seller wants $200k and takes $160k and still makes $110k profit it should not matter as the buyer got a 20% discount on the market value of the car. So when he goes to sell it there is still room for profit for him to make, maybe not as much, but it is still a profit. /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif ...........RatPack..................

A person has a right to ask whatever they want on a part or car,if someone doesnt like it they dont have to bid.I guess nice guys are the ones that give thier stuff away or sell it cheap. But that is NOT the point here at all.The point is it appears by the auction results and bid history that the buyer legally won the car and the seller seems to be reluctant in selling it now,and wants more money after the auction ended .I thought i saw a post recently on sellers getting slammed for backing out of deals, or selling cars out from under buyers to others for more money[and these were over handshakes, not legal binding contracts]..it didnt go over well with most here to say the least, perhaps this case is different?..... I still want to know who the phantom bidder of 101k was,he didnt retract his bid according to Ebay records on the auction..

02-05-2003, 02:26 PM
Kloneco, In a auction, it is the bidder who sets the price. Sometimes I pay too much for something on ebay, but I don't blame the seller.
In this case, it looks like there is a "LEGAL AND BINDING CONTRACT!" at 52k

This is a very good site for many reasons....if "popular" members were held to the same standards as everyone else in the hobby it would be upgraded to an outstanding site....
When you bash a owner, you bash the car. Thats a fact. All I know is you seem to be policing a transaction you aren't involved in. What is a "little people"?

YENKO, you are right about one thing.Everyone should mind there own business..the problem is there are quite a few individuals on this site that police every auction on ebay, calling the seller a liar, saying he took the pics from an angle to hide the rust!etc,or hes selling a 67 car with a 68 steering wheel etc etc,and calling every car that isnt theirs a fake..however when someone dear to you calls a 340 a hemi and makes up a story on a bid that didnt exist[so says ebay, not me] your quick to stand behind them[also i thought private auctions were only done by deceitful individuals[see posts here 6 months ago] ..i personally dont care about the 340 mopar auction, nor do i know the seller, and i dont care if he sells it or not that is his business,my gripe is how you all respond to it....was everyone minding their own business when the Ls6 convertible and 426 hemi convert were hammered here[to name a few]..or did you forget????the problem is there is a small group here that sticks together,i think that is quite evident to anyone with a 5th grade education..Remember i didnt throw the first stone...
"Dear to me"? I'm not "standing" behind anyone. Don't categorize me either, you don't know me. Sounds like you still are spitefull concerning the sale of your LS-6. Get over it. As I said before, bashing a owner is bashing a car. You seem to be living proof of that. You are right about one thing however. I feel like a 5th grader argueing with you. Kevin, I take it that it is a Camaro? What color, engine, etc? Post some pics, the motion stuff is just way cool and really wild! Being from where I am, I know Randy very good and all I can say is that I saw the cars you bought from him all time, and you got some A-1 cars from him, and hes a great guy to boot! Later.
Kevin bought "Supercars" blue 69 BM Camaro that was at the 2002 Reunion. There are some great vintage pics of this car smoking the tires on Kevin Suydam's website. Neat car.
The Motion Camaro on Kevin S's site smoking tires is a 1968 Camaro. I didn't see any pic of the 69 Motion with tires smoking but there is an original picture of it with CT plates. It is from my state but I never saw the car until it went to the left coast.

It is great to have baby pictures. Is there any original pictures of the engine? I have been looking for original picture of a 69 Motion with alu finned valve covers and have not found one. I asked Joel but he was not sure of exact date the use of alu valve covers began.
My bad, Kevin has so many Motion's it's hard to keep them all straight. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I believe any late 69 Motion car could have gotten the finned valve covers. There are several very late '69 Motion Camaros. Mine is a "10E" shipped to Baldwin Chev. early Nov. '69 and the yellow one from Dream Car Garage also is a very late car as it received the LS-7.
