we are going to be selling our 68 chevelle. numbers match on block/and diff. wrong heads/intake/trans is dated prop.but no vin.(4spd)on trans. car was special ordered daytona yellow/power discs,ps,tach,gauges,ss,L78,this apparently was a strike car, it has a buick gs interior in it. Car has one lacquer repaint(scraped part off w/razor blade & polished original paint!Car has all original panels. Needs,
rust(dash upper plate/upper rear body panel/lower lt quarter). I have upper dash and upper rr body panel from doner.lt lower quarter can be patched, the interior has never been changed or pulled, we have never had time to look for the broadcast or build sheet. trim tag shows proper dashes for color code. title is still in original owners name. nice original black plate california car. engine out and rebuilt 30 over with invoices.heads are rebuilt open chamber type. No vinyl top (thank god) tinted glass,buckets,counsul.

st 68-13837 bf 12323 body

tr 766-178 - - pnt

i am more of a pontiac collector, i know the car is rare, but how do i find out how many of these things were built
this color in 68?

I'm not sure if figures exist for paint color production. I have only seen that data for 1st-gen Camaros on the CRG site. I owned another '68 SS396 with special paint and I've seen the "--" codes on a few '70 Chevelles as well. Certainly it's uncommon to see the special paint code but I would venture a guess that 1-2% of these cars got special paint.

What are you looking to get for the car?
