This is in relation to 69 Chevelles, and in particular to L78, L89 and L72 models. There has been several heated discussions over on the TC board about this with a few members indicating some cars did get a 6500 redline, while most of them got 6000. I would appreciate some input from the members on here. Thanks.

Do they have buildsheets? A comparison of build sheets may show different codes for a different tach.

Joe, I can't answer your question about the buildsheets. Really just want to know if any Chevelles came with the 6500 redline.

Box 67 on the build sheet shows the cluster code, JA for the standard non-gauge unit.

I have a 69 Chevelle conv. L-78. It has a 6000 redline tach. I have looked at a lot of Chevelles tachs and cant remember ever seeing a 6500 redline. Check attachment

Nice convertible. Do you have a build sheet. Box 67 would give the cluster code. Where and when was the car built? We might just develop a time frame when the 6500 tachs might have been used, if we can get the info from the 6500 folks as well. /ubbthreads/images/icons/wink.gif

I have pop and shipper sheet but no build sheet. The car was built in Kansas, the build date is 06D

Our car was an 07E Baltimore built car. This would be very near the end of production.
