I think Supercars' collection is just barely visible over by the two floating bridges on Lake Washington. Right near that huge swath of cleared land where Gates put his 40,000 sq. ft. house.

A pic taken of my House by my Son's Friend. He did it with a disposable camera strapped under a RC plane with a servo pressing the button. Only one pic per flight as you have to land the plane to wind the film. Kind of have to guess when to take the pic also.

First speedway is easy, it "says" Las Vegas in the infield! Right next to Nellis AFB, I watched a great variety of planes fly in and out during the last NHRA national event last fall. B2's, F22's, B52's, everything big and small!

What was the watery place, with the islands? - it was NOT Supercars Kevin's homeland!

You must be right, but for a minute there I thought it was Seattle turned 90 degrees clockwise from north. Thought the leftmost bridge was the one running off Mercer Island with the highway going into Bellevue. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif Clearly now though, the city doesn't get close enough to Puget Sound.

Seattle Sam
02-14-2003, 11:13 PM
GarnetM20 Jeff, you are right that IS Puget Sound! That's a really high shot, Kevin's house is just along the right edge of the picture near the top...mine is off screen to the right.

Amazing pictures for sure. My house is just off the screen to the right (north), about a fourth of the way down on the right hand side. Downtown Seattle and waterfront is the bay (called Elliot Bay) just above the south (left) floating bridge. Between my house on the right side of the screen and the first point on the shoreline is a park called Golden Gardens.

In the early 1970's Golden Gardens Park was where we raced after hours. I had a 70 LS6 Chevelle built to the max. Lift kit all the way around, had ladder bars, and 12" wide Bridgestones, motor was pretty much the way Motion Performance did cars. One night the Cops were patrolling in the distance(we were all parked) and started getting closer to me. My car was not technically street legal. I fired up to leave and immediately lights flashed on and they headed straight for my car. After about a 20 minute lecture, about "loud exhaust", "car was jacked up to high", "you kids are always racing down here", and "BLAH-BLAH-BLAH"; they gave me a choice. Either they would impound my car right then and there, or I was to take it home never to be seen on the street again, as they would impound it immediately. Easy choice for me! I went home.

Boy, Belair, you are right! I've always had it in my head it was "Traffic" that did that song, and even downloaded a track off the net labeled as such! I guess I got some of the Traffic/Blind Faith/Cream/Derek & Dominoes guys mixed up! All of those bands were kind of a "potpurri" of musicians! Oh well, now I know! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Of course, not many 27 year olds have heard of any of those groups... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Rob, it's Blind Faith with Eric Clapton, song was by Stevie Winwood. I remember the 8-track had a white plastic case; most of them were black. Played it on my Pioneer Super Tuner under dash stereo...

But you know those musicians formed and broke and reformed into a number of groups, the first Clapton group I remember is the yardbirds, which also included Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck - three of the best guitarists in the sixties.

Bel Air, check out the attachment for the Shoot Out at the Fantasy Factory album cover..

I think the first cube they didwas Low Spark of High Heeled Boys....Don't ask why but the one member of Traffics name that has stuck in my head all these years was the percussionist...not the drummer...anyone remember his name ?

Sam:

After Belair caught my boo-boo, I dug through my cd's and realized my mistake! DOH! Clapton sure got around...Yardbirds, John Mayall, Derek and Dominoes, Cream, Blind Faith...all regulars in the cd player here! Winwood kind of did the same thing with Spencer Davis, Traffic, Blind Faith...good stuff! They both sat in on other well knowns like the Beatles, Hendrix, etc. Then, they both had successful solo careers...just proves how talented they were. I'd better stop there, or I'll never quit typing... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
