I would love to see the blue (?) Pro Street car in person.....Its time for me to get something goofy like that. All this stock stuff is getting old.

I usually go every year to the A.C. show. I was a little dissappointed this year. We were there at 10:00 and couldn't park at the convetion center. Never happened before. When we got upstairs we were wondering where all the people were that took the spaces. Not many nice camaros. I honestly think that the orange COPO was a clone or re-body. The guy wouldn't let us get closer, and the vin was suspect on the dash. It just didn't look like the right type numbers or spacing. Car looked very nice to the eye. Didn't see any paper work. He was asking $90,000. Couple nice corvettes, couple nice 2001 Berger camaros were there but I was not really impressed this year. Maybe Sat. will be better. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

I got there about 8.45 am and they would not let any body park at the convention center /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif
What a mess that was first time for me too
There was not that many people there at 9.00am so what gives with the parking /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
I tried to get some good pictures of the copo but the guy would not let me get to close to it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif
Had a real problem getting the trim tag info on the copo saw the Berger Camaros late in the day nice cars did not get any pictures it was getting late and I was in a lot of pain and just wanted to leave YES it was not one of the better shows also dissappointed /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Hi Norm, Don't think that I am to far from you. Souderton, Pa. Did you happen to see that 435 H.P. corvette convertible? That was real nice. (green) I am telling you that there was something wrong with that hugger orange COPO. What were you in pain from not many good cars or physical? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif Sam

sc69sam, What year 435 was that? 67-Goodwood, 68-British Racing, 69-Fathom. All nice colors.
Also I've never been to the AC show and might have time to stop in this weekend. Is it worth the 2 hour drive?
Thanks, Rich.
Salvatore
02-22-2003, 02:51 AM
Rich, I think it was a 1967. British green. I am not sure of that color. It was not as dark as fathom green. There will probably be more cars there on Sat. I mean it is raining and lousy around here. Why not go for something to do. Breaks up this Northeast winter. You can always hit the Casino for some good food. Try Bally's great food! Sam

The car was definitely a 1967 convertible. I guess Goodwood.

Spent a couple of hours at AC yesteday (friday)looking over the Camaros and Chevelles, the 2 Yenko clones were poor IMHO, the yellow had yenko stripes w/ Z28 badges, the other was a Tricked out Pro Street car, neither car was made to look like an actual Yenko, just threw the stripe kit on.
Not many really nice Chevelles either, bunch of decent 396/350 70's, there was one 70 LS5, the guy was looking for offers ABOVE $60k, are you kidding me.???,swap meet/vendor corral was lame, just picked up my Bumpers and went home. Just my 2 cents.

I just got back and I too was disappointed with the show. It was cool seeing Caroll Shelby and the cars that were on display.
That Yenko Chevelle was a clone? I thought that I saw a window sticker on the side?
As I was driving home on the AC Expressway I saw a Fathom Green Yenko Camaro on a flatbed heading towards the show. Couldn't tel if it was real or not.
Not the greatest show this year but it was nice to get out after all of this snow.

Yea, I guess it was nice to get out here in the northeast. Crappy weather!! Was the parking any better today, or did they make you park as far as the casinos? After attending that show, I see that the junk just never stops coming. It is a shame that our hobby seems to be getting over run with bogus junk.More and more the muscle cars keep getting junkier and junkier. How can you advertise a frame off, with all the pictures and not replate the wing window or sand the door jams. Ground up, frame off, those words are to loosely used today. When there is a nice car among the crowd, the price is insane. This is only because auctions like Barrett-Jackson bring in all the non-car people to buy Don Johnsons car and pick-up truck for the price of a small house. That pick-up should not have even been there. Sorry, just venting! There are truly more important things I can worry about. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

well the yenko clones were so so.the tubbed camaro and the yellow one both had several issues with them.i looked at alot of cars and ill say quality was down.
the nicest car i saw there was a black 396 chevelle for 60k?
there were a few camaros that were decent but most had runs or cracks in the paint ect.
seeing caroll shelby was atreat, the old boy looks like he is getting tired and im glad i got to get withen 10 feet from him.the line was long and i didnt want to wait an hour but i probably should have.
if anybody went thrue the vendor section did they see the custom car with the pontooned fenders ect.it was in primer sitting next to the purple scrape?car.i stopped to look and he flipped the hood/fenders frontward to reveal a viper v10 in it.i was in love.if anybody wants to see one goto www.decorides.com (http://www.decorides.com)
back to the muscle cars.the yenko replica?went to 29 on the block and i think it sold.there were a few sweet 427 vettes there also.paying 2 dollars for a can of pepsi is crazy isnt it?
well the show was so so but i had an excuse to eye up some decent girls/lol

I too was there all day today. No problem parking...got there at 7:45, pulled right in the convention center lot ( under cover) parked within 20 yards of the entrance. That was about the best part of this SHOW /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
What JUNK! some of these guys should be shot for even putting price tags on these cars...and worse yet, the amount people I over hear talking about " wow...that's nice, or soo sweet...." It's no wonder so many guys get ripped off....seems few people really know what they are looking at, or what to look for... a shame.
More 70 chevelles than you can shake a stick at...most are as usual...RED. Very little to be impressed with in AC.
Good news though....much of this trash will be on display at CARLISLE very soon /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Has any one found out if the hugger orange copo camaro at Atlantic City show last week was real? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Have seen it discussed on other sites no seems to know whatís up with it http://www.yenko.net/attachments/33872-argue2.gif
I viewed this car with Ken P. on Thursday night at the Trump Taj Mahal High line auction. There were no ropes, you could open the doors and look everywhere. The biggest thing that stuck out was the vin plate, the characters were grouped to closely and the font was wrong, the 8 was flat on the top /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif. There were many incorrect items under the hood, from the cheap battery ( commonly seen on million dollar supercars /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif), wrong pulleys, wrong finishes and so on. The plate on the left frame rail looked added, as it had been over welded. Hey it was orange and it was owned by Boyd new(they meant after the resto)I'd give it a Sunkist. VIN digits are grouped together tightly and the 8's have a flat top. I'd have to see a pic, but nothing sounds wrong with the VIN plate.
Nothing looks wrong with the #'s, also has a POP imprint on the inspection sheet.
Wonder if some things were changed after Tinnell restored it, he normally does nice work.

KURT,
AS JIM STATED IN A PREVIOUS POST,THE FONT ON THE VIN TAG WAS INCORRECT AS WE CONFIRMED THIS BY LOOKING AT 2 OTHER 69 CARS THERE AT THE AUCTION.THE CAR PRESENTED ITSELF LIKE A PUT TOGETHER CAR. JUST MY 2 CENTS.... KP
Kurt; I didn't fall off the turnip truck last night. I look at a lot of cars, as I buy them for some Serious Collectors. How many cut up race cars with no interiors and alluminum dashes have you seen!! How many cars have had the dashes cut out by amateurs , to replace them and they threw the dash out with the vin plate. You can check with the couple of companies that repro them, as to how many request they get weekly. Maybe you can join us in places like Atlantic City , Scottsdale, Monterey, or the other high end auctions and view these cars in person. Come to Carlise, Charlotte, Daytona, This type of car surfaces there too. Just my two cents. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif Remember the phrase " Sooner Or Later Everone Drives a plater" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif Dont think that doesn't apply to these cars. There are plenty of rebodies out there and you know it.In a world where you can buy trim tags, build sheets, and combos including the #s block on places like E-bay. don't think people aren't making money. I am clearly making No Statement about the Orange car except the vin" looked funny ". Jim /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Kenny / Jim,
Thanks. Helps to know that you compared it to another car. The redone VIN tags I've seen have been spaced too far apart, not too far together.
I didn't fall off the turnip truck, it was a potato truck. But your description wasn't clear and the tag I posted clearly has a flat-top 8, just like all the other 69 VINs I've seen with an 8 in them.
Lots of cars with swapped tags out there, and I've seen a lot of them.
