I have a protectoplate from a 68 Chev, was wondering if anybody could tell me what the engine and rear end codes mean. Engine is VO706DH rear is DA0703G. Any ideas guys? VIN is 156698F247379 Which comes back to a Biscayne/Belair. Never know. could be an important car that someone has that would love to have there POP,

Matt,
According to my CBTN book, it shows DA rear code for a 3.08:1 rear. I couldn't find the DH for the Engine. The closest I saw was DR which is for a 307 with a power glide. Are your sure it is a "H" and not an "R"?

04=Assembly Day 6th (6th of July)
DH= 283/220 HP with powerglide tranny. I show DH code for 65 and 66 cars not 68?? are you sure its not one of the following codes DO/DP/DQ/DR/DS/DA/DB/OR DE ALL 307'S
DA0703G=
DA=3:08:1 Gear Ratio
07= July
03=3rd day (3 July)
G= Detroit Gear and Axle
How did a 68 Passenger car get a 283 in it. Was it an Export car???

I have a DH code 307 out of a Calif. 68 Chevelle.It came to me in a 63 Impala.Saved it for bolts and x-tra parts.T0509DH 18L156393 Help any?

Found the DH code in Catalog of American Car ID Numbers 1960-1969
1968 Passenger 8 cylinder--307/200HP--Comp ratio/9:0:1---2 barrel carb---Powerglide tranny

The partial VIN does come back to a 68 Chevelle by the way but you already knew that
