Exscuse the stupid question?, I just hit on a buyer at e-bay that has buying 69 trimtags, but there is no claim of a title with them, is it just for fun, or??? What good are they without the title?, think he is tracking lost title paperwork for them?. Just curious what you guys know on the subject.

Thats a good question. Some folks do just collect them and nail them to their garage wall etc., others collect them and try to clone a car thats not what it started out as from the factory.

Jeff question, So lets say I have a plain jane 69 and buy a tag with some options, doesnt the tag match up with the vin at the windshield?, By the way i do not have a 69 I am trying to clone, so dont send hate messages my way. I just want to understand this new practice to better protect me and maybe we will learn something from the experts.

I think some of the guys buying the tags are trying to get them off the market so bogus cars can't be created from them. Generally, the VIN does tie into a build date so you'd have to find the right tag for your car to turn it into something else. But during some of the real busy time periods, there were a lot of cars built so it might not be hard to find a Z28 trim tag to put on your 307 car.

Interesting note....The winning bidder on this trim tag is also the seller of the Fast and Furious wrecked Yenko Clone that I posted off Ebay under Musclecars Wanted. Wonder if there is a upcomimg connection?

Ok I confess! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I have an extra trim tag.I took one off of a 69 SS Chevelle that was under water in a river during a canoe (sp?) trip.We had heard rumors about this Chevelle for years. So while camping we made it a quest to find the Chevelle, document the find, and part what was left.We were quite a site back at the livery with a boat load of Velle parts. So yes, in the Mohican river (late 80's),there WAS a 69 SS Chevelle.......minus my body tag trophy of coarse. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif What else are they good for? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Ok, I confess too, I took one off a junk yard car that I found in a wall of cars - 4th car up! It was a '70 Nova, SS, L78, a/t on the column, 731 interior, F41 car, forest green (I thought it was a Deuce till I saw the BB stuff!) Everything was gone except the rear sway bar plates and BB heater box. I pryed the trim tag off because it had an earlier body number than the Deuces, but a later build date. So, I thought it was an interesting piece.

I'm off the hook though, I laid it on the fender of a 240Z so I could climb out of the engine compartment, and it blew away /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif So, I would collect one or two if they were related to my Yenko Deuce research!

I must also confess. I pulled a trim tag off a brown '69 Camaro sitting in a junkyard in W.Va. The junkyard owner kept on saying something about it being a rare and special Camaro. I said "what you'd say? Didn't Chivey make something like a million gadjillion '69's that year?" I think he was trying to pull my leg. My 9th grade public school education got the better of him though./ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

p.s. Found out last year some city slicker came out of the big city and paid big money for that shell. I guess their born every minute.

I would think that after the big story of the Brown COPO that was found in a junkyard in W. Va, that turned out to be a fake, that every junk yard owner in W. Va who has a brown 69 Camaro thinks it must be a special car.

The winning bidder has quite a collection of them now looks like. I can't believe someone would spend as much as he has to just "collect" them! Did anyone else see the blank NOS POP plates on e-bay a few days ago( may still be on). Just fill in the blanks! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif

Surely you guys don't think the trim tag would end up on another CAR do you! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif.I think some guys like to collect them to have a piece off a rare old car,but then MAYBE ther are some people out there like Mr tuttle that would actually use them on another vehicle. Here I go again Marlin I am riding again,or probably will be in the HOT SEAT AGAIN! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
