Hi all. I've just noticed a lot of the other subjects have been getting alot of posts but the Dealer Specific topics haven't been getting a lot of posts lately. I'd be interested in seeing some pics and hearing some stories /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Dig 'em out and start typing. I'm sure I'm not the only interested one on this subject.

any idea if all the DANA Camaros got the hood pins installed??
Can't answer that Jeff on the steel hoods--This particular car, same car in your article, was built by Dana for the Bardahl Oil Co.as a combined show and test car for its various automotive products--it was loaded with extras--It was also equipped with the '66 version of the 427---I'll try to get the article posted later---
Cool pics and info... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
While on the subject of Dana cars, at SCR8 we would like to have some sort of Dana display. We have a Dana Nova penciled in, and a couple of other maybes. If you have a Dana car, and/or know someone who does, we would love to have it at SCR8. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Another to-die-for photo. Cragar G/T's with whitewalls! Note that by this time the car had the trick fiberglass hood with 427 emblems toward the rear. I think this was the Hot Rod road test?

I think the Dana and Bill Thomas cars are underated...not enough ink. Troy (RAT PACK) has a very nice Bill Thomas prepped 68 camaro. Maybe he will let us in on some of that early Dana Chevy and Bill Thomas west coast muscle! I guess D.H. was involved also. Come on Troy. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif
Your right--they are hard to get info/pics on---
Here's a close-up of the SW oil/temp gauges of the car in the article Jeff posted---looks like they made a compartment for the gauges--very neat--- http://www.yenko.net/attachments/120689-gauges.jpg
wow, check out the license plate 1234....i wonder if that was dana chevrolets dealer tag...pretty neat

Holy Xmas Joe.! I was never aware of the DANA/Dale connection. Today Dale owns perhaps the rarest '61 409 car ever made.

Bob,
I believe Dale just might own the very first '61 Super Sport (with original 409). It's a long story, but I worked with Dale on it many years ago before he bought it, to get it properly documented. It's got a special GM installed ID tag on top of the cowl in addition to the regular cowl tag. It's one of those one-off exec cars (like the Estes car). It has A/C, which was never offered on a production 409 (until '63). It's the "real deal".
Dale is a great guy too! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

Here is a pic of one on the cover of a 1969 issue of Hi-Perf. CARS magazine. Doesn't say anything about this car being from Dana (has the hood) and the only real identifying features of this Camaro is the claim on the grill of it being the "Worlds Fastest 327 Camaro" and it has Joe "something"?? lettered on the rear quarter panel. There are no other pics of the car in the magazine.. (no article either). Anyone know the car? I wonder how popular that hood was back then?? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Seems more than just "Dana" cars ended up with that hood.

Looks like a set of dual quads sticking out of the hood with a ram air box, and hoses. A C/Gasser would be running dual quads or injection.

I believe that is Joe Sherman's Camaro. The car was a very early SS350 car with radio and heater delete. Was bought new through Washburn Chevrolet in Santa Barbara and prepped by Bob Joehnck. Back in '67 it had "World's Fastest 350" in the grille area. I think it ran a lot of AHRA events but probably NHRA too. Joehnck printed a magazine on the preparation of the car. It is pretty cool. I have heard that Joe Sherman located the car several years ago and got it back but I don't know if that's a fact or not. The entire front end was fiberglass when prepared in '67. I forget what company did it but they used the sheetmetal off this car as the basis for the fenders, hood, etc that they ended up molding.

If you know which HRM issue it was in, I probably have it. I have the one with the red 350SS car. Actually, I think it was a series. #III was the one with the famous color photo with the parachute after a 396 was installed.

The HRM article does mention the hood from Berry Plasti-Glass. I would still like to know where the DANA hood picture noted above was originally published. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

There used to be a 68 Dana Camaro in Tucson during the early 70's. The guys name was Kenny ?? he was the driver of Bob Perry's Fugitive Corvette and Hell on Wheels Go Army Tank both wheel standers. Still to this day probably the fastest car I have driven. Always wondered what happened to him and the car. This article just refreshed the memory. Larry.

I remember when a 1966 or '67 Hemi Belvedere ll pulled in. The farmer drove it down from San Luis Obispo. 100% original, $2,200 (around 1985-6). Out of money by then. He left without selling it. Seemed like the word around town was: if you're the original owner of a factory high performance car, or a unique car, Pomona was the venue to sell it.
