Is it just my bad eyes or does it appear to be a seam around this cowl tag? Build date looks like Feb, yet vin of 689XXX should be about July? Should not the sequence # on cowl tag be around 360XXX or near there? Maybe I just can see it well with my old eyes, anybody else see this better or have a better idea on build number vs VIN# ? Kurt?

Does look weird. VIN listed vs build date should be September. Doesn't look like a 9. But do you think someone would go through the trouble to match interior and paint just to make an SS350? Or vice versa if interior and paint are original finding a tag to match would one heck of a task. Well I guess it's better than a base car. Just my 3 cents. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Base car = X44, no SS, Z-28 option.

Kurt, If I had to take a guess on this one since the color seems correct for the tag to car, and since the car is nothing special worth retagging I would say that in some point of this cars life it was stolen and retagged. I would be willing to bet the hidden VIN's dont match the dash VIN. As you know Kurt from our previous conversations this will be checked out.
