Can someone tell me what the correct size the hole should be for the 4sp shifter to go through? It has a console if it makes a diff. Someone cut bigger. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

A 3speed has a stamped out rectangle hole and a 4speed has an oval hole the same size as the inside of the rubber boot ring and was cutout with a torch at the factory...so I've been told. If you go to www.Camaros.net (http://www.Camaros.net) and do a search. I think there's even pictures. Brent

Ok I'd like to add to the thought of this. Was reading into that "Brown-COPO" discussion; looked at Ed Cuneen's comments as to production, etc. Now...With the bulk ? of the COPO order being assembled(finally as Yenko's & those left as COPO's from their original delivery), as Body's are finished up, X44 cars were all: 3-speed or 4-speed based coupe shells? I mean, were the cars all intended as 4-speed orders at the time of the run, or were the shell's left to have the 3-speed cut-out? I am hypothetically assuming bodys were being assembled and pulled as the order called for it? or were they all special ordered shells? Anybody's thoughts??? Lastly, are there any X44 COPO Camaros that have a stamped out hole ? Thanx! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

If I understand your question, all bodies left Fisher Body with the correct hole in the tunnel for the trans the car was going to get.
