I recently purchased a 1968 Camaro Funny Car, with original paint from 1968. Does anyone recognize this car and or do you have any photos of it back in the day. It was from the Louisville, KY area I think. It was at last years Funny Car Reunion and will be there this year, running it's heart out . . . that is a 482 ci Chevy Big Block . . . Running 30% Nitro. Cool piece of Camaro / Chevy Drag Racing History. Now lets see if I can get a photo or two attached.

I'm not sure what you mean about the names on the front plate? The "BONINFANTE" is a sponsor for the Funny Car Reunion. What other names were you talking about?? I did find the pictures from last years Funny Car Reunion. Bruce Larson's '68 (by the way, this car is considered a '68 as well . . .I think . . .) was there last year parked along side this car. I first saw this car 5 years ago in a barn covered with dirt and dust; but remember telling the owner, "If you ever sell it . . .Call me." Well, in December of '02, after 4 years, he called and asked if I remember the Car and if I was still interested in it. I really couldn't afford it, but I had to have it. The wife thinks I'm crazy, but my 8 year old son thinks his daddy has the coolest race car. Wait until he hears it fired up.
Here is a link to last years Funny Car Reunion in Englishtown, NJ and some cool pictures of my car and the other Funny Cars.

Matt,
Welcome to the board, and seeing your funny, which looks to be a neat ride. Have you dug into the history of the car? Who made the chassis, what Co. the body came from?

It sure looks like a Malcolm Durham paint scheme. Did he have a 1st gen F/C?

Matt; This past Friday I spent the day with the head of one of the vintage funny car associations. I was there gathering information for my FC, but did ask him about your car. He knew the car well, and had several pictures of it. The car was raced by John Carter out of Louisville, KY, with "Honest John" painted on the grille. He went on to say that car was indeed sporting its original paint, but that the chassis had been updated. Thus the later design cage, etc. Neat car and should be a blast to play with. I know I can not wait to get my FC completed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif
