Can anyone give me an idea how the Goodmark Repo body panels compare to the GM panels. It has been several years since I was in the market for panels and am wondering how they compare. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Hi Darren, Not crazy about repro body panels. Seem to be a little thinner sheetmetal. Also, you have to sometimes watch NOS panels. They can be late issued when the dyes were getting dull. I prefer very good used Front fenders, doors trunk lid etc. It is a little cheaper and seems to fit better. Southern Calif. and down. Arizona and parts of New Mexico. Just my opinion. I'm chiming to say that Sam is right..Some NOS is "dull" and unless your car is just a regular car Goodmark is substandard..Funny that no one ever mentions that original sheet metal has plant codes and week of the year stamps on them..This will be the next level of originality in the years to come, so if you don't save what you've got or match it with used from the same general date zone then regret will follow..could be 20 years from now, but it's coming...

Hard to see the date codes on those quarters! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have seen the goodmark '69 RS fenders, they really don't fit well around the hood, header, and valance. The grill inserts don't align with the curvature of the leading edge..

Well my car is a pretty decent Z-28 and I don't want to waste money on sheet metal and paint on something that doesn't fit well. Can't wait for the stock market to rebound. I am having a hard time figuring out how to pay for some of the things I need. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Thanks for the advice guys. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Darren, I am pretty sure you will be happy with good used fenders and doors etc. I bought 2 R/S fenders and 2 doors from the LA. area. They were very good rust free parts. A few dents, but that is ok. I would say that the sheetmetal on my 1969 is near perfect and is all original camaro sheet metal. Except the quarters.(older NOS) My opinion is rust free parts and hours of block sanding. I don't mind repro emblems, but sheetmetal, I am fussy about. I don't like kit cars. I like the sheet metal to be able to tell me a story about hanging on a 1969 camaro some where in its life. It really does fit better than repro and some newer NOS panels. Just my observations. Would anybody be able to give me the contact information for some salvage yards in the southern U.S....I'm in need of some good used '69 camaro parts...namely a front right fender (non r/s) and fender extension...or if any of you guys have any that you would be willing to part with?....PM me if you would like.
Thanks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

If you want quick, look in Hemmings, call all the Camaro parts dealers, they might have what you need. If your looking to get off cheap, put an ad in your local paper. Someone has to have parts laying around.
Advertise you pay cash. It helps....Brent

For good used parts from the southern california area. Try Recycler.com I've had good luck.

I recently dealt with "Camaroland" out in northern California, they are a little pricey but they have alot of good parts. 1-800-251-4527.

Another Southern California yard to check is Memory Lane. There are a few ways to contact them; (800) AT 1 YARD / (800) 281-9273 or check their website; http://www.oldautoparts.com/
