Just a heads up for those of you in the southern Michigan/northern Illinois-Indiana area...

...coming up this Friday, May 23, at Martin, MI, will be the first Factory Stock and Stock Appearing event of the year. There are 50 cars in the field (31 FS, 19 SA) and there should be some great racing. For those of you who don't know, they are pulling the top 8 out of each class and those 8 from each class will each run a ladder, while the rest are paired off. And I'd bet it will take better than a 12.50 to be in the top 8 in Factory Stock and an 11.90 or better to be in the top 8 in Stock Appearing...and remember, this is on repro POLYGLASS TIRES!

Members of this board racing will be Big Dog and COPO Pete with their ZL-1 Camaros (representing the quickest car in Stock Appearing and Factory Stock, respectively) along with me in our Yenko Camaro. But, here is a complete run down of the cars attending:

Well, I'm hopefully heading out in the morning. Looks like there is gonna be some killer air, especially if the barometer will cooperate.

If anyone is gonna be in the Martin, MI, area Friday, look me up!

GREAT EVENT!

Pete and JJ took 1-2 honors in the quick-8 of Factory Stock. I think Pete's best was a 12.09@114+ and JJ's was a 12.23@113+...it was nice to have Chevrolet representing the top 2 spots. I won my best of 3 shootout against a Stage 1, and ran a best of 12.87@106+. Smallhurst also won his shootout on his '69 H/O, running against a GTS, and ran his best ET ever with a 13.87(?)@???. Terry (BIG DOG) made it to "I believe" the final 4 of the Stock Appearing cars, and was in the hunt of quickest ET of the event with a 11.4 at I think 123(?)...I'm not exactly sure what happened on his runs, because I missed all but his qualifying runs. I'm probably close on the times, but you guys feel free to correct me.

It was a good time, except for the rain, but it gave us time to relax and visit with everyone so it worked out. Martin is an awesome facility!

Now, time to prepare for Norwalk...

Rob,

Thanks again for the lift up to MI. I am going to try to talk my way into going up to Stanton. Yeah, the car ran great and I had a lot of fun, I might have to try to get some more tuning done to make the 3.23 gears pay off in the top end! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

Rusty:

No problem on the lift...I was glad I could help! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif Let me know if you can't get something lined out for Stanton as I may have an extra slot in the trailer. I'll have to wait and see how the Nova comes along.

So if you get the Nova going, who's driving? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Since Yenko put the 427s in the Novas then it won't be PSMCDR legal, so it will only be for "exhibition". As for the driver, can you say "Ebay"!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Hope dad doesn't read this thread...
