I own a 1969 SS396 camaro. It is an original X66 car that still has the original Hugger Orange paint(what's left of it). The original engine and trans. are long gone. It is a non a/c car. is there any way to tell if this car in an original 325, 350 or 375 horsepower car. Any and all help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

If the car has 1 3/8" fuel line it was an L78 car. If there are 2 lines, the 3/8" and a smaller one it was built with a Quadrajet carb making it a 325 or 350 hp 396. If it has a factory tachometer the L78 redlne would be 6000 rpm, 325/350 5500 rpm. If was built in California (L VIN) there may be a broadcast sheet taped to the top of the fuel tank.

William,

Thank you very much for the info. I thought that was what I had remembered, but it's been awhile. Unfortunately, the guage cluster and tank are gone, but as far as the tank, it's a Norwood car anyway, so that wouldn't have helped. Thanks again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
