I was at the Portland swap meet earlier this sping & came accross a guy who rebuilds tube shocks.
I had a look at some samples & they didn't look bad at all.
The only evidence from the repair was a small MIG Bead around the bottom of the shocks. I think with a bit of finish work you could make them have a more stock look. I believe he charges $50 a shock. He told me he got into this recently & usually does the antique Ford shocks & Houdaille Reproduction (I have no idea what that is!!).
