I'm not sure if this is right, but I remember reading somewhere that a missing Sputnik-style Russian satellite was on eBay. Matches the discussion above /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

CNN article on missing Sputnik satellite (http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/space/06/04/sputnik.ebay.reut/index.html)

Guys it was a sputnik type unit, it was a second machine that was built for backup, missing the good stuff from inside the machine, so the add claimed, I suspect the bidder may have been messing with the seller, weird? he/she changed there user name last night during the auction, or it may have been the real deal and the seller ended it to avoid the fees, I was thinking about that last night as well, e-bays cut had to be a nice piece of the pie at that level!

Unreal, Bud.
