Guys I recently added this peice to my Nickey memorabilia collection. I just thought it was cool and wanted to share it with the rest of the board members. The reason that I posted it is because it answers a lot of questions that people have asked here about Nickey Chevrolet. This particular flyer was put out by Nickey annually to show their customers the years line up of supercars that they offered. These flyers are different and more rare IMO than the parts catalogs that were also released yearly. Their is a seperate price list that comes with these flyers and this particular flyer is for the 1973 Nickey model year.

This is the cool page. The Nickey story explains the how's and whys of Nickey. It talk's about the backwards K that we have wondered about, racers that have been with Nickey (funny no mention of Dick Harrell), when they opened etc.

Why the backwards K?

I tried calling the phone number to place my order for the Camaro with the 427/430 @ $5363 but got no answer. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Seriously, I remember some time back someone here mentioned that Nickey did at least one second-gen Camaro/L-88 conversion. Was that only rumor/speculation or is there evidence of it?

With all the literature regarding Nickey cars back then and them being in mags post 1969 I think that it should not be suprising that 70, 71, 72, & 73 Nickey supercars were being built. Why else would they put out the literature? I would be shocked to find out that Nickey would be puting out flyers, and be wasting space in their hi-po parts catalogs, and for all those that grew up in Chicago and remember Nickeys radio advertising campaign, for them to not have built at least a few supercars of the later years. I have asked somthing on this site before and got no response. (I don't know why it is a good question) Why haven't more Nickey supercars been found? I would think that the simple answer would be that you need actual paperwork to document a Nickey car. Their has to be more out there with paperwork. How many have been actually found and documented? 15-20 if that? All I know is that Chicago is a BIG city of 6 million people and in that big city their is A LOT of garages. Imagine the lucky dog out there that is driving a run of the mill muscle car that does not have the original engine only for it to have been born a Nickey 427 transplant supercar and they don't even know it! They are out there!

BTW just a cool little story that I wanted to pass on. In the Chicago Suntimes a while back was a story about a lady who lived on the south side of Chicago that died. In her garage was I think a 1935-1936 Chevy that was sitting there since the early 40's that her son left there when he went to fight in WWII. It said that he loved that car and when he was KIA she didn't have the hart to get rid of the car so just left it and never looked at it again. When she died recently a family member donated it to a local school and they restored it. The article said that the car was in great original shape to start with. This just proves that they are still out there. I can find and post the article if anybody is interested.

From the cover of the 70 line up brosure. (it is bigger than the scanner so I got as much of it in as I could) Notice the 69 Camaro still on the cover.

ohhh what I would do for one of these............ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mr. Nickey salesman, "I will take mine in Cranberry red, white buckets, 427, 4speed, Sun gauges, Oh and don't forget Cragers! Only $4395.95? Well in that case give me another one but make it Tuxedo Black!" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

From the 1970 hi-po parts catalog.

Frank, Did you get a copy of that inter office letter I have from Ford when they sent two spies to Nickey and Grand Spaulding to decide if they could set up a similar dealership program? If not, let me know.

The picture of the 69 Camaro is one of the prototype ZL1s designed to be a more street friendly version. You can see the prototype wheel centers and rear sway bar. The pictures where taken at the Chevy press preview for the 1970 cars in late 69. The same pictures where in the magazines articles at that time.

Joe I thought the same thing. This is the black car with the gold stripes right?

Mo I would be interested in those documents. I think that you posted them before but I couldn't really read them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

I understand that is is not that unusual to see these around Chicago at flea markets, as I understand many were handed out at sporting events. They must be kind of rare today, (in good condition) as I have been looking for sometime in Ohio and PA and have found none-outside of the display at SCR.

Next time you see them for 1$ Buy them all!. Then please sell them to me - Hell I will even let you make some money on em, Because I know I will... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Darren & I see them occasionally at local swaps. One of the main reasons why is because these were given away at certain Cubs & Sox Baseball games. If I see any this year I will pick some up for you too.

Jack who? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Don't get 'em wet or click 'em after midnite, they multiply. Nickey clickers have gotta be the last "under 10.00" Supercar memorabilia left... Everyone should have one, or two, or three.... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Jackshaw Yes- My dad got a tricked out 64 Impala from them. I understand Jackshaw did some fast cars by creative ordering. First time that I knew they had a clicker.

Neither does anyone else. Note I took the pic against the infamous orange carpet... matches the Nickey clickers pretty nice, doesn't it? Coincidence? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
