Just received some interesting news. It appears that the Camaro will go out in the same fashion as it begun, with Motion Performance producing a very limited number of ground pounding supercars. Joel Rosen has decided to pick up where he left off and get back into the production of hi-performance cars. The platform will be the 2002 Camaro. The cars will be modified at Matt Murphy's GMMG facility, with Berger Chevrolet, Grand Rapids, as the the only authorized dealer. Not only has Joel lent his name to the project, but is overseeing things, just as he did in the past. I am not for sure what will be under the hood, but Joel did tell me that it would surpass anything GMMG has produced so far. Hum.

I heard from a secret source that there is a possibility of 12 to 13 cars. I'm not sure who gets #1, or if there is even a waiting list. I'm sure GMMG will build a prototype or two before they begin production. Don't hold me to this info by any means, this could just be a rumor. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

I've heard one is going to Greensboro. Maybe one staying here in Atlanta. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif I'm hearing supercharged and 600+ hp, but someone with better knowledge will hopefully chime in.

According to the Schedule for the 2003 F-Body gathering at the Corvette factory, there is to be a "SSecret Presentation" on September 19th. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Could this be the unveiling of the Berger Motion Camaro? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif 2003 F-Body Gathering Agenda (http://www.camaroz28.com/2003F-bodyGatheringAgenda.doc)

While I'd like to claim otherwise. I can safely say that the presentation your referring isn't related to this project. HOWEVER, if the powers responsible wanted to make such a presentation.. you know where to find us! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I couldn't help but feel that I was transported back to Yenko Chevrolet while walking the back parking lot seeing all of the cars lined up waiting to be converted. Was good to see several board members in attendance as well as speak with Mr. Chevrolet's family and friends. All this only 10 miles from my house. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

JHarrell... You might just want to start a new thread in the Fred Gibb, Dick Harrell section.

It was a very neat experience to say the least. After the unveiling Dave from GMMG gave me and Dad a personal tour of the place. If you're reading this Dave, thanks!!

The Harrell car was painted 1968 Tripoli Turquoise. They couldn't have picked a better color to paint it. It also had the 630 HP Phase III 427. It sounded great when Matt fired it up inside of that building with all of those horses echoing off of the walls!

Where does GMMG get the cars to convert since the Camaro is no longer being produced?

Charley Lillard

Berger bought about 30 cars out of New car inventory from Dealers around the Nation.

If you go to Forum and scroll down to 2002 Z28Unveiling
there are 3 pages of the car and some of the event. Which by the way went very well. The car looked better than expected and it Is not car #1. It was the #2 prototype.
I could be wrong but I thought Charlie was to get #1.
I do know 3 cars were sold at this event. 1 car may go to Larry and Pat Leatherman who also still own Larry,s 69ZL1.
I finally got to meet my nemisis,Tim LaPata. Tim was very nice. He spent much of his time getting input from the Harrell team that built the original cars. For Val and I it was a rough last few months going over details about the car. I must say Matt Murphy and all the guys at GMMG came through with a VERY nice car. Our goal was not to have a car with just a few names and stickers changed,But to have a Dick Harrell version that stands alone. That is what it is. This was the prototype a few little changes are to be made but I would have to say no one would have any complaints. DP http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

I thought the Baldwin Motion themed Camaro was not going to be produced? I attended G8 in Atlanta, and there was a 2002 ZL-1 that had Motion graphics. The car was champaign in color, with a black stripe around the rear of the car. It had motion emblems on it, motion stickers on the rear glass and 454 emblems on the front fenders. Did the owner do this himself or was the car produced this way? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Very Good question Andy. Did you get any pics of the car or did they say what # the car was by chance.

Andy
06-07-2004, 08:13 AM
I only got it on film, the emblem on the driver's side shock tower did have who the car was built for, I'll have to look into it tomorrow. I think it was a phase II 475 horse version. The car also had full length headers, and a nascar type exhaust. It was a 6 speed car and had what appeared to be 02 or 03 corvette rims (not Z06 rims) painted the same champaign color as the car.
Here are some pics that I did find:

That car still belongs to bille, and it's car number 6 of the Zl1's. It's a Motion Signature edition, the only one made that I know of. The wheels are the magnesium light weight if the corvette..

Thank you all for the compliments on #6, that was only the second time the car has really been out in public, i hope to tote her to a few more shows this summer and kick tires with everyone, I've spent the last four years building these modern day muscle cars and now is my time to kick back and enjoy them... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif see you this summer!!!

Billie, Aloha and welcome to the sYc site, I do have a question about your #6 car though, The Motion name on it is different than the other 02 ZL1's. Was there a Motion Package it came equiped with or was that done by your shop on the side. Like the color by the way, something different again

Guys, i consider my self very fortunate, i got to spend two days with Joel, and surprised him with the paint job, being a "car-super hero" of mine and hailing origonally from New York myself, i asked him to sign the car and if i could badge it as the "Motion" themed ZL1, we had already done a Fred Gibb, Nicky Chevy, and Grumpy Jenkins cars, i wanted something different, special, and sort of a tribute to a living legend... and when the dust settled... there was number 6.
