This board has been too quiet lately, we need good discussion. I just put this Camaro on Ebay, but before you guys jump, as the auction states I am listing as an X-44 Camaro with options and Z-28 trim, not as a COPO. And with a reserve less than 15K I dont think anyone would argue the car to be worth that, with or without unusual history or circumstances. I have had it over a year and have never been able to come to a definate conclusion, but I am of the opinion the car was a big block. But for less than 15K reserve, what the heck, this makes for good conversation anyway.

Motown,
I can confidently state that I have yet to see any Big Block Camaro Coupe with original Frame rails and no exhaust hanger plate /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
Looks like a nice Driver for the $$$$.
BTW, What is the axle tube code and date as well as axle housing casting date? And What is the VIN on the TH350 trans?

Stefano, Trans is not original to the car, so Vin will most likely come back to the same car the engine is out of. I will get the rear casting numbers tommorow in daylight. I agree about the frame plates, everytime I came to the cant be possible conclusion, I really looked at other stuff on the car that sent me away confused. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Overall mechanically, the car is very sound and a nice driver, but I would recommend in the future that the engine recieve a light rebuild or replacement with a big block to cure the oil smoke problem.

I like your style. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

I bet you will never guess who Emailed me that wants to buy this car outright? This is too funny. Let me see, I will give you all a hint or two....Would this car make an easy COPO or Yenko clone or what? So take some guesses guys, this should be too easy for you.

Joe and Resto, Bingo and Bingo! I think I would have to use reservations in this particular case, I do not want to take part it what would seem to me to end up being a dark chapter in the life of this car if that were to happen. Money isint everything.
Thanks,

matt, why not hold on to this car til you get gm documents for the car? Even if it is a optioned x44, still has value. Roger

Rodger, you ever have something you wanted to buy so bad you cant sleep at night? And that something amounted to financially the sum of three or four of your other toys? You ever had a wife who was tolerant to a point, but when it gets to the point of two full buildings and race engine parts in the den...that to keep peace, or piece, however you see it, you had to let something go before you bring home more? This is not a multiple choice dilemma for me, this is all of the above. Someone once said that the one who dies with the most toys wins, that may be true, but if your life starts to be financial and domestic aggrevation because of the toys....well, I wouldnt call that winning. There is something I want, so I will do what it takes to get it while keeping sanity, even if it means selling some things I may regret later. Such is life.
Thanks,

I was thinking the same thing (wait for any official paperwork that might be available), but I do understand your point also. Sometimes you just can't wait and have to take action.
Motown,
HOPE you get what you want-------JoeG

Joe, if not, maybe like Mick Jagger puts it so well, "I'll get what I need".

How well done is the vinyl top? And the body is all the original sheetmetal with no real rust? How about the radiator, does it have all the Harrison tags and dates on it or is it a replacement? 15K for a solid body, good running Camaro shouldn't be too hard to get.
