Hey fellas. I am new to the list and need some help. I have a 69 R/S Z with the 302. It has the original carb with 66 jets in the front and 72's in the rear. 6.5 power valves. This is correct per the holley website. Anyway it sounds like it has a light miss at idle, which can adjust out but then runs rich. Highway driving it has a surge to it. Comes on strong when kicked, but spews black smoke, as rich. Engine is stock except electronic ignition and headers. Any suggestions? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

You might want to check the front face of the main body for flatness. They tend to become dished, with age, until the gasket can't make a proper seal. Then metering goes right out the window. The face can be filed or machined flat again. I've run into this problem on several Holleys.
