There are 3 with Donahue addresses pop.290, and Jon Cronkletons in Long Grove which is about 6 miles away. Only town that I know of that may have more Yenkos than Hondas.
Frank this is the car that came out of Fla last year that Marlin posted about, deuce found. The owner had it since 74. Left Ill. in 79 and it pretty much just sat down there. Odometer shows 35k miles and I believe its correct. It retains the org ctb 4:10rear, has a 68m21 and a correct, but not original speced LT/1. We think this car org had white stripes on cranberry red. The owner said it did as he had never seen one with blk stripes, and I've talked with Mr Ed and his brother and they both remember haveing one with white stripes. It also appears to be radio delete which it should not be. The dates on the back of the instrument cluster and under the dash pad put it right on the money for deuce build dates.
The owner, Gene Engler wanted it "as they were in the day" We'll just have to see how hot those Mickeys have to get before they start to hook. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice car Ken!
I sat down and talked with Mr.Ed today. He had some very cool things to say about the old days.He has some records to go through, and may have something on your Fencl-Tufo Deuce. No promises though.
It's funny,he remembers strongly how in 1970,NO ONE wanted a Hi-perf Nova.Through out the following years he vividly recalls this.
Now today that has all changed.
I will let you know what comes up.
Rick

Thank you all for the compliments on the car. Also thanks to all the folks who were involved in helping this car come to Ia. We appreciate it more than we can say.
Also finding the link to mr Ed, and his brother has been way cool. As Rick said he is a wealth of knowledge.
Tommorrow night she goes to her first cruise as the Eastern Ia. chapter NNN is comeing to Davenport for the north park cruise.
And Rob, thanks for posting the pics, and Pete on advise on the cam. The Mickeys hook well! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ken I JUST saw another Fencil-Tufo "day 2" Fathom Green Deuce tonight. I was at Downers Grove IL cruise night and their is a local guy that has owned this Deuce from 1976 or 79 till present day. Marlin knows the guy and the car. I can't remember his name but the car is YS-099. I met the guy at Aurora cruise night last month. He is a Aurora police officer and was walking the beat when Bill Prithard introduced me to him while we were at the show. This is the same car that I saw last year at Super Chevy, Joliet IL and took pics of. If anybody is interested I can bring the last year Super Chevy pics of this car pics home from work to scan & post them.

Cool to see another day 2 Deuce. BTW Ken those Mickeys DO hook! I have them on my Velle and love them!

Frank, thats Dan Hornbeck. We met him in 2000 when Jon Cronkleton and I had our deuces in the showcase at vettefest. Very nice guy, and thats my favorite forest green deuce. That car had a lot of influence on how this red car was done. Really liked it's day two look. My hope is to someday get a picture of these two F/T deuces together. Would be really neat to have Mr. Ed standing between the two of them, just like an old Fencil Tufo ad. Schonye

That Green looks awesome! Is that "fathom green" or does it have a different name? The engine looks flawless and that interior looks dead on. sweet GIANT bench seat. Question for everyone. What rims are those? American Racing Torque Thrust? How did he get the light gray instead of the traditional darker gray? Nice piece man!

PS -- That red car is one mean DEUCE!

hvychev

Dan the car is Fathom Green. The rims are AR Torque Thrusts. Dan told me that he restores the rims and has about 10 sets in his basement. His elderly father was at the cruise night in Aurora the day I was introduced to him while he was walking the beat. His father had an all original 75-76(?) Nova that he bought at a garage sale for $1000 dollars. Dan gave him a set of restored AR TT wheels for a fathers day present that he had on the car.

Dan,
The car looks to be painted the original forest green color.
