Item 2424307877 are advertised as "found in a speed shop". These covers look nothing like originals I have seen. There is a ridge stamped in those covers that all the real Yenko ones I have seen do not have. Also the tab area at the bottom of the covers are stamped unlike the real deals I have seen. If the covers are real they would of been in a Yenko box. Either with the mailing address or a brown box with a red Yenko crest. The stamped crest appears not to have the three stars either. Buyer beware on this item. If these are real, they are not at all like the literature pictures or the real ones in my collection..BKH

These are bogus...The seller has been selling taiwan repro BBC chrome covers and those finned ones for a long time... He puts a repro tonawanda decal in the middle of the finned ones and calls them "factory"... I like how he says "he found a case"... to cover his butt as to why there will be 15 more sets on ebay in the weeks to come. Save your money. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Supercar Kid,
I think your wrong about those valve covers being bogus-I found an original set of "MOTION PERFORMANCE" valve covers the same way and it had a "MOITION" plate right on top of the valve covers..---JoeG- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I think the correct covers from Yenko Chevrolet look more like the pair in the picture I attached. Good luck,

Yes Maxx, those ones you have are the real deal... yours are plain steel as I'm sure you know.. they were offered this way, and also in chrome, note the differences between these and the ebay fakes...My brother has a set of chrome ones still in the original box, with the Yenko logo and reciept. I'm sure they will be on display at SCR6. JoeG: As for the finned Motion covers, Yes, Motion sold finned BBC covers with Motion emblems on them in both polished and chrome plated versions. The ones on ebay ARE NOT these... they are brand new castings that were just produced. Go to any swap meet and you will see that about every "chrome goodie" place has these in boxes, stacked to the roof, right along side the Taiwan chrome timing covers and oil pans... as many pairs as you want for about 79 bucks... GM never used these covers... they are aftermarket, and they never had Tonawanda #1 team decals on them.. that whole story they use in the ebay ads is laughable.... and its more than one seller that uses a similar far fetched story. have you seen the ones with the bogus Motion emblems, Yenko427, Nickey, and even Yenko ZL1??? People really need to get educated with this stuff, or they will continue to pay the price for ignorance... as seen in the auction in question. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

SupercarKid,
I give-up---I'm on your side in this matter--I stated my valve covers had a " MOITION " emblem on them.---- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif---JoeG

I purchased a set if the Nickey finned covers,I thought they were reproductions but I did not have to pay but $148.00 for mine. They are pretty nice covers.I have watched the seller and about every 3 weeks to a month or so he comes up with more sets.Seems he just keeps finding them,Must be the TOOTH FAIRY leaving them where he can find them but no one else! All in all I was happy with the quality of my finned aluminum covers for the price I payed. But you guys with the real cars want the real deal items and I do not blame you for that.If I had a real deal car I would want the same thing.I think it all boils down to people not being honest about reproduction items. If it is real, thats fine, if it is a repop just say it is a repop. Some people just let the $$$$ signs get in the way of being honest about reproduction items. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Amazing! People will just flock like sheep to spend money on these rare items that keep showing up. I will continue to point out bogus ebay items. I am just tired of it. Maybe there will be a table of fake memorabilia some day at the clone reunion... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gifBKH

I am trying to figure out what they did. It looks like someone either made the Yenko crest stamping tool or got access to the original. Then they bought cheap valve covers and stamped them. I would think the stamping operation would damage the chrome plate so I am guessing that they have to stamp before chroming. It looks like they went to a lot of trouble to make the fakes.
I emailed them asking if they had original boxes or receipts but not expecting a reply.

Wouldn't this be considered copyright infringement, and thus breaking the law?
Could the Yenko estate go after him and shut him down?

I don't know if anyone from the Yenko family will go after them but the "Friends of Yenko's" can drop them an email and express an opinion.

What about having someone from this board who has a real set post them on ebay with a write up stating that these are what REAL and AUTHENTIC covers look like and they are not for sale but just for display (put and ungodly high reserve to prevent people from trying to buy them) so the people interested in the "NEW" covers can make a more educated decision??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
