I used Auto City Glass in MN, I was pleased with what they supplied to me, don't know about other people's experience with them. The date codes cost me $75 per piece of glass.

I know of a City Auto Glass. Is that the same one?? Where were they located. Did you have to buy all the glass or could you buy just one window. The problem I have is I need drivers side door glass and windsheild, but everyone wh=wants to sell you the complete set. Maybe it's so it all matches. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

DON'T USE PILKINGTON IN COLUMBUS OHIO. THEY HAVE HAD AT LEAST THREE TRIES ON MY GLASS, EVEN AFTER SENDING THEM MY ORIGIONAL GLASS,THE ETCHINGS ARE STILL NOT CORRECTLY LOCATED.

That is them! I got the name bass ackwards!
I was able to just buy the front and rear windshields (clear, with front antenna in the glass) from them, I didn't need any side glass.

The mirrors can be cut and dated by Paragon, they wouldn't do my Nova mirror though - I must have gotten an elitest when I called them - 'we don't do Nova's' they said, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Hey Marlin, call them back and tell it's a COPO Corvette and has that style mirror. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

How did the text in the glass match up with the existing glass? Could you tell the new windows apart form the rest? I have a City Auto Glass here in town so looks like I'll get my glass from them.

Any info/phone numbers for Paragon? Do they do 69 Camaro mirrors? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

No Camaro mirrors but LOTS of interchangeable Corvette/Chevrolet parts.

I thought the text matched up very well. They will ask you if you have the LOF in a straight line or diagonal, so make sure you check your other glass pieces. I can tell the new glass from my original side glass only because the new ones brought out some flaws in my originals that I had not noticed before. It is very difficult to find clear glass in good shape, so I will probably have my flaws polished out - actually, will probably try to do it myself.

Paragon can kiss my big, white,.... pillow! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Marlin,

Paragon changed ownership during the past few months, so you may find them more Nova-friendly next time around /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That sounds good! I will try them for another mirror, I have an NOS one on my Yenko, but it's a little bit later version so it's not a DMI. It hurts to smash a perfectly good NOS mirror, but if I can install a correctly dated DMI version - that's what I'll do /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY;

You do not need to get the 7 years bad luck. You should have a snap ring holding the mirror in. If not, then it is a later version of the mirror. Which you probably do not want on your deuce anyway. Do not sell Paragon short.

do you have contact info the the paragon that sells camaro mirrors?

Hey, I'm not sellin them short, they were sellin me short - as in no corvette - no mirror /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

I will check for a snap ring, but that last time I looked I didn't see one. If they are sealed into the mirror housing, I don't know of any other way to remove it - 'cept a good hard crack!

I pulled this off the web awhile ago, probably from the Camaros.net site.

Mirror Disassembly Made Easy

"I recently disassembled the standard LH mirror on my 68 to replace the glass and have the components re-chromed. I had heard that the only way to remove the glass was to either break it (which I couldn't bring myself to do on an original date coded mirror)or try boiling it in water which often results in breakage. Here's what I did: I held the assembly in a soft-jawed vise with the glass facing up. I then filled the 'cup' formed by the mirror head with laquer thinner, covered it to prevent evaporation, and let it sit for 12 hours. When I came back, the mirror lifted right out. I then removed the base from the head by applying a light, even heat with the propane torch to the top of the base. This breaks down the retaining compound used to hold the ball part of the ball joint into the base. If you pull straight out on the ball/head assembly after sufficiently heated, it will come right out.

I didn't find any info of this type already posted, so I thought everybody might be interested."

Hope this helps you or someone else,

The 2002 Paragon Catalog shows the rectangle 68-69 Camaro and Chevelle mirror as # 2409 LH and # 2410 RH $51.00 each. The 66-67 Round Bowtie mirror for the Chevy II, Chevelle and Camaro is # 1610 at 51.00. Dated Glass is $10 installed.

To order the round dated glass for a 70 Nova order the glass for the #1109. This is the snap ring style mirror glass just like my 70 Nova has. I caught them at spring Charlotte and looked at all of the mirrors to see what the offered.

You can use the link above to see pictures of the mirrors

Thanks for the post on the mirror removal! I will try that, I would rather not smash a perfectly good mirror.

Also, thanks for the part numbers Gregg, I will give them another call!

Cool, learn something new every day - hope to have a proper mirror soon /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
