I've read about a few special "finds" here; those rare old cars that turn up and fall into good hands. Those are the dreams we all have if we love this hobby and have that rare juice flowing through our veins that keeps us going. There's a special feeling that overwhelms some of us when we're lucky enough to have something truely rare come our way. Once that special vehicle actually makes it home to your place and you stand there looking at it, realizing that you are it's new caretaker, there's a feeling that's indescribable. Some here have experienced that, so that at least, I have in common with you.
I'd like to share something like that, although I realize a '62 Chevy is far away from the main interest here. But maybe a few might enjoy the "find". I apologize for sending you to another site to see it, but (even with Rob's many attempts to help me) I don't have the capability of posting the pics here.
Here it is if you're interested.

Wow... Cool Car and story. From the pics I thought the seats were done in Velour. I would leave all the Mods on it and maybe make up a Storyboard explaining the Story behind them and your find. Congrats.

I always wondered if those thin rod shifters would bend if you bang gears in those old musclebarges /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

I gave her exactly what she wanted for the car, because I knew I would never have that opportunity again.

Sometimes you have to do that or you may never get your "dream car". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Despite the way the shifter appears in the photo, it has the exact shape it should have. Although, they do have a reputation for being weak. At York last year, Jenkins' old crew told me they had to change the shifter in Dave's '62 all the time.
It is odd that he didn't mangle the shifter, since the engine received a Crower Super Stock cam in April '64, along with ported & polished heads (by Tony Fiel, then working for Van Iderstine) complete with Isky springs and aluminum retainers,..........and he did powershift the car.

Musclebarge huh? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

Wow, I can't believe your phone # was around after that many years & that his sister would even call it! You must have horseshoes where the sun don't shine to have that kind of luck!!
Great find & your obviously the right guy to own it. Cheers /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Joe,
I do feel that the car is in good hands now. It, and it's history will be carefully preserved from now on. (and it's ills will be remedied)
Many people who know me have said the same thing to me. Can't imagine a finer compliment.
Thanks

And of course it's the finest color you could get on a 62 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

I agree, Belair. Although I've owned a black one for 35 years now (god, that dates me), I had to admit to myself that the Nassau Blue has got to be the best available in '62!

As for my health.............we won't go there, but rest assured, my "disposal network" has already been carefully set up. Besides, my wife continues to tell everyone there are parts sales at the house everyday 10 to 2! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif Maybe that's why I'm having more trouble finding things that I know I have somewhere.......... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Verne,

What a beautiful car. Thanks for the link to the story and congratulations on your good fortune and tenacity in getting it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif I'm sure it won't get any more mold on the seats now /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Just wanted to say how much I appreciate everyone's positive comments. I do intend to add updates on it's progress on that site if anyone's interested.
Now, if I can get myself out of the computer dark ages and get a digital camera and learn how to post my own photos, they'll be added too at some later date.
It's been a pleasure, gentlemen. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
