Hey guys,

I just bought a '69 z/28 and want to restore it correctly.

What should I do first? What books do I need to get? etc.

Trim Tag info:

69 12437 NOR 321767
711 71/71
05A X77

This what I know.
It's a Base Z/28 LeMans Blue w/ Std. Black int. built 1st. week of May, which was Thurs. or Fri. according to Julian calendar. The car is together with motor and trans pulled out. The trans is correct, the block is 70ís 302-crate motor the owner raced the car and scattered the original motor. I don't have heads, exhausts manifolds, shifter, lid for air cleaner, Harmonic Balancer, crankshaft pully, Alternator or distributor but everything else is here. The car has a console w/ gauges but no in-dash tach. I donít think the console came in the car because of this, what do you think? The car doesnít really have any options except being a Z/28. Is there someone or place that can provide me with Documentation for it? I heard that Pontaic owners can get that kind of info from somewhere with the VIN number.
Also is there a place in the car can I look for a Build sheet?

Thanks in advance for any help,
Frank

get the factory assembly manual. This will be the best $20.00 you can spend.

Thanks Joe

I have it and " Camaro Chevy's Classy Chassis" .

I also have the two dealer parts manuels the green pages for pictures and the White pages for Part numbers orginals, so I can find some of the parts(like the upper cowl panel #03891610)in stock at Chevy dealerships.

Thanks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Nice Car. A build sheet in a Norwood Ohio car is next to non-existent, as some big shot on the assenbly line threw out all the build sheets (rumor). Get these books:
69 chassis service manual
69 Camaro assembly manual
69 chassis overhaul manual
69 Fisher body manual
The above are all Chevy literature........Joel/IL Cam. club /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

Jerry MacNeish's book is good! (The definitive 1969 camaro Z/28-SS396 fact book)I have a 1969 Z/28 Rally Sport that I am always working on. It is really the little things that count. You can Call or e-mail me if you want to talk. Good luck! Not to beat a dead horse, but they are right about the MacNeish book. Also, start accumulating parts manuals from Year One, Paddock, Ground UP, Heartbeat City, etc...

I had a '69 Z/28 that I sold last year and I had a lot of fun with that car. Enjoy and good luck. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
